Was Classic your first love?

I'm curious to know exactly what it was about the Classic map that you fell in love with...

It was the map that i new, that i had played the board game on. It had the exact same graphics (near enough) as the board i own... so it was an obvious choice :) :)

World 2.1 was my first and reining cc love. Classic is fine, I prefer Art to Shapes, but nothing beats World 2.1 for me. I can play no spoils adjacent and still love it in the morning.

Without the Classic map I would probably not have recognised this site as being at all R*SK-orientated.
So yes, it was my first love...leading to other loves. Sort of like dating a map and then its best friend :?

I think I took this thread too far already.

Ahhh... my first love... the classic map

We knew each other as kids, we played together all summer long... we laughed together... and played after school whenever we could...

Then came puberty...
And we fell head over heals in love... that super sweetheart puppy kind of love... it was wonderful... we couldn't sleep at night, all i could think about was being together...

And then we meet up again in college...
we were the same, only more mature, and able to see things in a far deeper way... our love was more relaxed, yet deeper than ever before...

Then we meet again here at CC...
What a wonderous reconnection it was... we had both changed a bit, so that explained why our gameplay was a little different... and he looked different too, much darker... but hey, overall, we had both aged gracefully...

And then he left... with no notice, he just up and left... leaving shapes, his hideous cousin, like i would be interested in him... pffft... so now i sometimes go on group dates with his younger brother who is into art... but we keep it casual... sure it's the same genes, but the personality just isn't the same...

I miss those days... that first love... such memories...

Classic always seemed dark and moody...
it was World 2.1 that caught my eye.

I started on France. Loved that map when I started. With that said it was only because I seen my friend playing it.

If it wasn't for the "Classic Map" of R!SK, I wouldn't of noticed this site.

Classic will always have a special place in my heart.

Mmmmmm, Australia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America, mmmmmm, makes me want to touch myself.

Yakutsk, of course! Thrown in with a little Irkutsk and Kamchatka, and how could it go wrong!

I'm not much of a fan of Classic. World 2.1 is my favorite! It's like a modern classic... so many ways to win (and lose) :)

I'm surprised... I thought there would have been more love for Classic, if the furore when it disappeared was anything to go by...

I couldnt agree more. I believe it is the epitome of a world domination game, and its size makes it the perfect size to actually have some time to let strategy have some effect. I liked classic just fine, but Id actually quit if world went away. I simply dont think this game means anything without it.

And for those who are still here, perhaps it is still too painful to discuss.
