CC Hall of Fame

Postby Georgerx7di on Sat Jun 06, 2009 8:47 pm

So the sites been up for 3 or 4 years now. We've had some people with major accomplishments. How would everyone feel about having a CC hall of fame. We could use information from blitz's first 5's and top 5's, scott and fitz's map rank threads, map rank itself, and player suggestions. So what does everyone think? Also, who should be in there? And how many people should be added each year. Maybe start it out by adding 5 or 10 players, then maybe 2 a year? Thoughts?

Edit: I forgot to throw in a few suggestions of my own for who should be in there. These are some of the obvious ones, everyone can add to it, or comment.

A clan should be formed with a comity that would decide the 5-10 members each year, the comity should rotate on the same schedule as the US Congress and the election will be held via thread

Well the regular hall of fame could be run by CC. Also, it only has to be updated once a year. You only add players who have already made their accomplishments, so you won't have to change them, this could solve that problem. It doesn't have to have all of their stats just the major things, how long they were conqueror, highest score, etc. Once a player is in, that's done. Once a year, have a vote, add 2 players, done. Also, there could be a short personal story about the person and so on, so that people would have something to read when they went in there.

if you want it just do it George... for my part i think there is enough of this kind of thing already and even new congratulation threads fill me with a strange and mildly unfathomable sense of tepid queasiness .. but that's my problem.
So from what i've seen with ocelots CLA or Chips and yeti's scripts etc.. you are best off just going for it and then maybe the site will follow eventually.

Interesting idea, but there would have to be some format for voting members in. Some format that multis and such couldn't take advantage of. No ballot box stuffing! Also, individual non-game accomplishments should be included, in my opinion.

here is some of the ideas Blitz put together. Check out number 12. your choices come no where close to meeting that goal. Also, why would you select players with a very low relative rank ?

1. Longevity: played minimum of 2 years

2. Hit Score of 3500 + @ least 1x

3. Made 1st 5 and Top 5 lists

4. Maintained RANK for long time

5. Membership status of Premium a vast majority of time

6. Stats: singles wins, doubles wins, triples wins, quad wins, assassin, term, total wins, etc.

7. Multiple contributions to CC site, overall enhancement, map making, tournament organizers, clan domination, site workers, forum helpers, posters making it a fun site with threads of popularity evidenced by over 100 pages, etc.

8. Feedback or Ranking System of 4.5 or higher-although somewhat subjective

9. Medals of 20+ and held high score in the process

10. CC players who played Tournaments and Won @ least 1

11. Obtained Conquerer or # 1 on Scoreboard

12. Versitile, demonstrates greatness in a plethera of game plays and gaming styles, on many maps

Yes, you eventually get site support if it is a good idea, just takes time.

There are multiple threads on this, but not one consolidated, and not one that relies on multiple opinions.

I like the 12 entrance requirements listed above, that's a good start. The challenge will be you will need a committee that is responsible and respected. Some of the sports real life committees are quite large.

I would also suggest you have different categories like

  1. Players (like previously mentioned)
  2. Builders (eg Optimus Prime developing the Tournaments area, ChipV for the Scripts and tools etc.)
    etc.
  3. Clans
  4. Journalists

Could do a player's top players...

Invite the top 250 (via pm) to nominate their top 3. Do something clever with the results like add them up and list the top 10 nominated.

You'd surely have some deserving players listed.

A CC Hall of Fame would be interesting. The best way to go about something like this---is try to get a User-created and run Hall of Fame going in the early stages. And then if things do well, CC can look into officially adopting such a thing. This is similar to the route of users of a specific language trying to get a new International Language Forum up. It is also similar to the route the Newsletters which started out as marginal forum topics, and which now are advertised in headlines, and which also have some grander additional changes in store---in the next week or two.

I think that is the best action plan.

ty george for the recognition

I have no problem with those list of players you mentioned, they are all solid, very solid from my game experiences with them, and always present cerebral complex challenges to munster any type of win. you cant make any mistake at all or you will lose and great chance you will lose anyways, but you have no hope if you are against them and make the smallest of errors (only exception is out of the orbit dice).

with that said, I think there is another 2 names that could be highly considered here and worth mentioning:
1. is big whiskey-this man is uncanny and solid in every facet and multi tasked to the hilts-been around general status off and on for about 2 years.
2. is comic boy-although he may not be as versitle on as many maps, however, he is argueably one of the best or top 3 best single sequential players with skills I have even seen, I would say # 1 and his team playing ability is top notch, and the competition he faces for a high percentage are top notch players and he remained general status for a very long time.

Yes, except that the scoreboard changes. So someone new logging on might look at blitz (he just happens to be a good example here), and say "hay there's your average captain or major". So, for those who played a lot, and did some stuff that was relevant to the game; a hall of fame would mark their accomplishments better than just something in their signature that says, 'highest place 2nd, highest score 2,900.

Also, if you stop playing for a while, then you move down the scoreboard (and in rank), just because of inflation. I had stopped playing for a year, around the summer of 2007. When I left I was 63rd place on the scoreboard, colonel, with a score of I think 2278. When I came back my score was still 2278, but my rank was major and my spot on the scoreboard was 262. So after one year away I fell 262 spots. If herpes stopped playing today, within 3 years, he would be out of the top 10, probably out of the top 20.

So the hall of fame would just be something more permanent.

It seems to me that those who build/better the site are at LEAST as relevant to a Hall of Fame as those considered for their exceptional game play.

Maybe have two categories, one for exceptional game play and one for exceptional contributors. Or at least outline what the person did to get a place in the Hall of fame next to their name.

Maniacmath17 -> Sheer amount of 6 Player Esc wins
JR24 -> May not be the most popular person but first person to get 27 Achievement Medals and the amount of multi-hunting work he has conducted makes him worthy of a mention IMO

Aswell as all the others previously mentioned.
