by name or color?

When CC members deign to refer to one another during game chat, a great number do so via color. Each of us chose a username, obviously with varying degrees of attachment and length. Nonetheless, I am not blue or red or green. (My internal monologue continues in this vein for quite a while, but you can likely guess the rest.)

Obviously, I don't hope to convince the minute proportion of players that I will face in future games who happen to troll about this end of the forums. I would like to know if this bothers anyone else, to confirm whether I am unreasonable (in this regard only).

this is something i've wondered about, the etiquette when referring to people in the chat. i alternate between color and username.

I don't find it anymore offending than some 1 referring to me by my jersey number, when I was playing sports.

I don't care if someone refers to me by color (color in CC, not color in real life... that's a whole different issue).

I will, however, refer to players by their names. I was roundly lambasted in one of my first games for referring to someone as "Blue." I guess it has stuck with me.

But seriously no, I have no problem being referred to by colour or name (especially as people don't seem to be able to pronounce 3 syllables ) I think it's far more important for teammates etc to say something useful rather than my name.

I find it I refer to players I play with more often by the user names they have. If they do not play too often with me, I will use a color sometimes. Nothing personal.

alot of it really has to do with memory... by the time you scroll down to type the chat, you may not even remember who it was, only that they were blue...so, dont take it too personally...myself I usually try to type the name though

I like to abbreviate usernames. If the username is too hard to abbreviate, they become a color.

I usually refer to players by their name. However, if I'm in a team game, I talk about moves with my partner by referring to colors. I guess my thinking is, if I'm saying hello, making a joke, or giving a compliment to someone, I'm saying it to them, henceforth I use their name. But, if I'm strategizing with a partner, then I'm just seeing armies, not the real person behind them.

I think it's nice when someone bothers to type my name instead of my color, but I don't get offended or anything if they don't. Nicknames are fine-squishy (would've been my user name anyway if it was available), squish, Princess Awesome...
