Family playing from the same ip address

Postby Bishamon on Mon Aug 10, 2009 7:44 am

Hi
What are the rules for a family member playing from a separate account, but using the same ip address?

Just let the mods know, they are good at determing multi accounts. :-)

Whenever multiple people play from the same household, it is always best to upgrade to Premium Membership. :)

Why is that then ?
I mean the whole family might not like the site.My family do not.I'm glad I didn't buy my daughter a membership. It would have been a waste of £20.The world is in a recession you know.

Easy way to clear your name of most Multiple Account suspicion---either reported in the Forums or in E-tickets.

I think the reason that it would disperse suspicion is because, someone making a multi wouldn't waste time having 3-4 accounts with premium.

Right. We still investigate whether someone is premium or non-premium. However, I know that multiple people playing from the same household, or business, or school for that matter, are often viewed as multiple accounts by some Community Members at-large. One way to avoid accusations is to undercut them---by having Premium Membership. As Kotaro points out, only very rarely do we come across mutliple accounts with multiple Premium Memberships.

In all honesty, your actual answer was a bad answer, Andy.

Bishamon, it's within the rules, Do not share accounts, and I strongly suggest that you do not play against family members in any games, to make it look like you are not cheating.

I don't think encouraging Premium Membership is a "bad answer." ;)

Yes.. and no. For one thing, if someone is busted as a multis, the "fix" is to have them buy premium.

The suggestion to just not play other family members, at least in public multiple player games, was a good one.

It's not a bad answer at all - premium is a good deal and a helps support the site and our gaming addictions. However, premium is not required for two family members to both play. I think that as one of the 4 admins of the site, a response with the actual rules (with a suggestion to buy premium to avoid multi accusations) would have been a more appropriate answer.

Perhaps, but I supplied one form of the answer, and other supplied others! :) But this topic has been answered, so lets move elsewhere.

It is if a new member is asking a perfectly reasonable question and the admin's response is an attempt to extort money out of him.

Great first impression.

Very helpful caymanmew, I'm sure he knows what an e-ticket is .

Click on 'Help' at the top of the page. The first link available is 'support ticket', click on it. The Department you'll want is general inquiries. The rest is pretty straightforward.

Personally I'm wondering how your wife feels about your 3 girlfriends. Do you all play from the same computer?
