Why do I not get spoils sometimes while other players continue to accrue them?
thank you

you only get spoils if you conquer a territory.

To get spoils of any kind (note that some games have no spoils whatsoever), you need to conquer a region in a turn (1 region or 50 regions -- you still only get one 'spoil' for it) and end your turn.
If you do not conquer a region in your turn, you won't get spoils, regardless of how many troops you took.

And just so you don't make the same mistake I made, bombarding a territory until it turns neutral does not count as conquering it.

actually it does if you bombard it to one. this is a popular tactic on feudal war.

Yeah, even if it was neutral beforehand.

Hmm, that's odd. SInce I cannot occupy a territory by bombardment, it seems peculiar to award spoils for it.
