Telling Tales: The Losing Streak

Postby Aesop Jones on Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:01 pm

It happens to everyone eventually, or at least most everybody. You're doing really well, racking up wins, climbing up the ranks, and then...

...kaboom.

The dice stop rolling your way. Your enemies keep outflanking you. You find your anger getting the best of you and you mash auto-attack out of spite. Sometimes it's bad luck, sometimes it's bad tactics, most of the time it's a combination of both. But it's bound to happen - the losing streak.

I've had it happen to me recently - was a major not three or four months back, and now I've won all of one match in a month. I'm still having a blast playing, but I'm definitely aware of needing to adjust my tactics, be more patient, be more aggressive, basically stop doing whatever bad habit I've picked up and just keep plugging away. :)

So tell your tales of losing. How do you break the streak? Do you play the same maps, or different ones? Did it affect your enjoyment? Or have you just not broken the streak and let the dice fall where they may?

That reminds me, I need to send Lack more money for the superman dice/drops patch. My rank is getting pretty low. :D

Anyhow, I'm on a protracted slide from a peak of 2050 points to the dismal depths of a striper you find me in today. Hopefully someone can shed some light on how to break a losing streak, all the methods I have tried have been unsuccessful so far.

I've been on a general losing streak as well---this usually happens when I venture out of my comfort zone of maps---but I just can't help wanting to try new ones! So every time I start to slide...I must return back to the maps and settings I know the best!

A similar thing happened to me - I lost significant points going back to playing classic maps. I don't know why I did it, but it was stupid. Back to multi-territory maps with flat rate/no cards... WWII Europe, here I come!

I've been fucked up solid for 3 months. Dwindling rank, loosing by poor dice, becoming disenchanted and loosing through sheer stupidity.

A lot of it is lack of focus, and playing with settings and maps that you do not profit by.

I've got a shit load of tourneys to clean up, but after that I'm taking a vacation from C.C.

Rejuv, refresh, and come back stomping.

In August, I was a Corporal...around August 15, I had gone back down to Cook...I have since gone back up, but my rank likes to change a lot.

Still 21% games won is not bad...(148/696)

Yeah. I would need a therapist at that point.

Maybe even a live-in one.

Umm, I dont know who youre primary care physician is, but you should probably talk to a neurologist and cardiologist, not a therapist, if a stroke is suspected.

Myself Ive gone from 3000, back down to seargent 3 times now... and its very easy to do

Once I lose a few, I take the opportunity, and play the games that arent the best for points, but are the most fun

assassindoodles, speed games, etc... lets me practice on the new maps, and strip some high ranks of points occasionally, and really just have fun, till my score just happens to go back up, as it always does :D
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk
Too much. I know.

If you're a striper and not there by design (medal hunting) then one could say it's not a losing streak so much as a way of (cc) life.
