KICKED OUT FOR RULES VIOLATION- consequences for teammates?

Postby beersurfer on Wed Oct 21, 2009 12:58 pm

I dont know who to address this to ... but, when you guys kick somebody off the site for (violations or whatever), you should have a standard elimination of all the games that person was in ... Mystique was recently kicked for violating rules (I dont want to know why), I am in at least 10 different games with the guy and now all the trips games have gone to (3-players vs. 2-players)

i know the armies transfer to the next player in turn... but there is no making up for the lost drops each round or the actual turn for that person to attack (leaving the other team with immediate back to back turns)... the other teams get an immediate advantage over us ... especially in the games that are only in the 1st round ... its preposterous to think that i am automatically gonna lose 5-8 games because someone else did some stupid thing (probably said something) and you guys kicked him out ... you should abolish all existing team games with that person... its not fair to those of us who are by-standers in those games ... to be punished because of that 1 individual's errant mistake.

I did nothing wrong and neither did my other teammate ... there needs to be some kind of resolution to this matter ... its completely unfair and biased ...

If any of you mods actually have control of the active games, i would ask that i be removed from all existing games with Mystique the ones i'm winning and losing (just to be fair) and i believe our other teammates would feel the same way

It just doesnt make any sense for the games to continue, and to have our points basically given away to the opposing teams

PLEASE RESPOND SOON,

still i would be outraged as well like beer if i were in a handful of games and no idea my partner was causing problems outside those games and got banned in the middle of them. Maybe allow min. access to finish the games or allow a chosen sitter to play those turns instead of giving the poor by standers the loss. The site is basically awarding those who are playing vs the said banned player and punishing the entire 2nd team. I was about to lose a game when Lanyard was banned and we won when we should not of won that game cause of the ban. I might of been happy with the win but its tainted and un-deserved.

Well regardless of what he has done, I know for a fact that all the games i have been in with him were with other players that i knew. So the whole rule that the higher ups can't make a change for things like this is a little short sighted on their parts. I have never had any idea that he was a multiplayer. In fact i always had good games with him. The whole thing surprises me! But again with that being said shouldn't the games at least be able to be played out and the player banned from making any new games. Or at least a warning in game that gives the option for a draw game no points lost.

Look, I lost a couple hundred points to lanyards's banning, so it's not like I'm not bitter about this rule neither, but the simple fact is that the well-known players who are busted while in team games are in the minority to the low-rank players who multi as freemies. CC shouldn't have to appease the minority for the forum members' sake. The rule was changed and it's not going back.

This issue has been discussed (and resolved) earlier. The current rule and its complete shafting of the team mates is there by design and I wouldn't expect it to change any time soon. Sorry.

people that are angry at the mods only respond to irrational arguements, it makes their side of the arguement look better. if they responded to every logical post, it would be boring for them... and they would not get any support..

Think this will have to be chaulked up to the dangers of doing business with people who are shady.

If you think about it, this will make it more difficult for people who are likely to get banned (read: assholes, multi's, trolls, abusers in general) to get any gaming in because people will not want to partner with them, etc.

Does it suck for the people it happens to? Yea. Caused me to loose a tourni.

However, the only crime here is that this particular rule/action is not more publicized. It would give more people cause to check out their partners before hand, and also people wouldn't be surprised when it happened.

Punishment by association. So don't associate with those people, and the natural order will cause them to dwindle in number.

well this is a pretty irrational view... simple answer is no ... who would?

but it is irrelevant all the same ... it has nothing to do with this topic ... thanks for the uninsightful response...

I have played 106 games with mystique and not once has the people he's accused of being multi's with been in those games ... so would i like to lose to a multi?, no; however, i only play trips and quads with a few dubs here and there... if anyone wants to multi in a team game against me... more power to ya ...

DO YOU SEE THESE MEDALS ----------------------------------------------------------------- GOLD TRIPS AND QUADS--------->

the only benefit i see from multi-ing is in multi-player standard sequential (where it becomes 2people on the multi's side) against all other individual's

please come and multi against me in a quads game and tell me how you benefit (aside from being on my team and throwing the game to the other team) if you join team 2 with all the spaces taken by your multi accounts ... you have no benefit other than running your one strategy against our team's four players coming together with different ideas and deciphering the best plan

this is where the rules are unfair!!!! there is no real advantage to a multi in a team game ... unless he is playing both sides

so the team games should be abolished when a multi is caught... the multi isn't benefiting from team games ...

IS THIS CLEAR ENOUGH?

Can I actually get a logical response from a mod? Not some ignorant question addressing an even more ignorant view?

PLEASE ....

I have to say I agree with Beersurfer on this one. I would be really mad if a fellow clansman of mine or a regular partner turned out to be a multi and got kicked out of 10 or so games I was on their team in. Beersurfer did nothing wrong and does not deserve these losses on his record. Some of us play this site competetively and do not like losing or hurting our stats.

For a logical solution. I do not think letting them play out their games in anyway is a reasonable solution because I think if they are caught being a multi then they need to be banned immediately. However, I feel they should only be kicked from all standard games they were in (it only hurts them in this situation, everyone else benefits). I think all team games they are in and still alive in should be instantly considered a draw or something of the sort. That or the teammates are given an option to pick a new partner in the game that will fill in the rest of the way or something.

No reason to punish people who did nothing wrong on this site. And it is really easy to say "don't associate with shady people" but I have 20-30 playing partners and I have NO CLUE if any of them are multis. And if they are, they aren't going to just come out and tell me in game chat. I would be livid if you kicked one of them out of a team game while we were partners. Quit punishing the innocent.

all mystique's active games are team games, so he should not be punished at all then?

he violates 2 rules, not just 1 => 2 multis + racial abuse

No, he should be punished. I am saying he/she should be banned from the site. That account kicked. But then all of the team games should be just declared a draw, or someone else should be able to stand in so the teammates aren't punished.

Bet you are thinking NOW though if your "Playing Partners" are up to snuff. And if this rule stands, and you happen to get burnt, you will really start checking up on this.

Have you ever looked at someone's ratings to see if you want to join their games? Same thing.

tlau wrote:he violates 2 rules, not just 1 => 2 multis + racial abuse

This is a rehash of the ignorant bullshit that Mystique somehow was committing racial abuse by badmouthing canadians. Multi was the crime, committed and punished for.

Is this kicking of banned people out of games perfectly fair? Probably not. But with any rule, one can't get a perfect cut. There will always be a situation where someone got screwed, no matter how you formulate the rule. In this way, it increases the automatic vetting of crap players out of CC. Suck it up. it's a RISK!

to play devils advocate: How is this fair? What if the other team was winning? What if the "Stand in" is someone with much greater or much less skill?

No matter what happens, someone is gonna get screwed.

honestly, NO ... i dont consider any of the other partners i play with to be up to "snuff" (stuff?)
and the only time i check the ratings... is when a player first joins a team game with me ... i want to make sure "snuff" like this doesnt happen ... after the initial check and a game played, there is absolutely no reason to go and check again ... i will either play with you again or i wont... and if something looks fishy, when i do check, i would just drop the game and warn the other players i invited to join me

tlau wrote:he violates 2 rules, not just 1 => 2 multis + racial abuse

i'm not arguing about him getting kicked or for what reasons ... again this is ignorant oversight of the subject at hand...

Snowgun wrote: Suck it up. it's a RISK!

REALLY? ... i thought the risk was in the game play itself ... not in the concern of your teammates getting kicked out for whatever reason and the remaining partners having to suffer for it ... if that was in the rules when i started i would probably never have played a team game... if that was the risk and those were the consequences, i probably never would have paid for premium ...

the risk is in your decisions on the board ... be realistic snowgun ... its real easy to say "SUCK IT UP" ... when your not the one affected and especially by ten games...

are there any MODS that have authority to address this? ... does anyone know who i can contact? ...

which happens to be the reason i started this thread in the first place... not so i can hear player's opinions about sucking it up and why he got kicked and would i like to lose to a multi? seriously

I think what LV meant is the opposing team to the cheater. Maybe? Could be wrong. In this case, letting Mystique finish out the game, winning, and they lose points to a cheater. I may be misinterpretting.

The logical answer is "no," because it's obviously not fair. I think the best solution to this problem would be the one that Beer suggested where all games with the cheater are wiped out, both active and waiting games. Nothing in this situation would be 100% fair to all parties, but I think this would be the most fair.

Beer and the other teammates are not responsible for Mystique's actions, so they shouldn't be punished for them by playing out games with a handicap.

Beersurfer, it's happened to me. I had to "suck it up", and I was pissed the first time because I didn't know about the rule. I had the same sort of WTF! experience that you did.

I agree, this thing needs to be advertised more, for many reasons, but do you REALLY think you wouldn't have played team games had you known? And I know it's a pain to check every partner, but when you play over 10 games with someone, it's hard to chaulk that up to "he just joined and our first game was cool".

Let me explain it in another light:

So you want the mods to fix this. OK, they are gonna have to make a special case for you. You had TEN games, is the guy with ONE game any less needy of help? OK, lets change the rule, then there are a host of other issues to deal with. (see previous post) No matter how you change the rule, shit is gonna fly and stick somewhere. Did you get screwed? Of course! But what is the PURPOSE of this rule? To reign beau-coup punishment on multi's, which are the number one problem in CC (besides these fucking dice LOL).

And just becuase you DIDN"T know doesn't mean that the people who DID know they were playing with a cheater should get off light due to a change in this rule.

The rule will assist the CC community in policing itself because no-one will want to get screwed like we did. Yea it's harsh but that's life. And why I only partner with people I KNOW for multiple games or tourniments now.

PS, BTW, "Up to Snuff" is a saying meaning up to par, or up to inspection, etc. ;)
