Getting Serious...

EXT. CITY STREET - DAY

The town is gathered outside to discuss the murder problem. Shieldgenerator seems nervous and jumpy, as if his life were in danger.

SHIELD (uneasily): I don't know if it's such a good idea to lynch anyone today, guys.

NAG (alarmed): Oh yeah? Well since you don't think we ought to lynch, what's stopping us from lynching you?

SHEEP: That's a fairly good point. I say we get rid of him!

SHIELD: Hey, take it easy! I didn't know what I was saying?

COMM: Oh really? Then you will vote for someone?

SHIELD: Well, I... uh...

TG: He's just saying that! Lynch him!

NAG: Now I'm not sure. Maybe he's just screwing with us.

EDOC: Don't be ridiculous. I've already had enough of him. Let's get this over with.

They turn to apprehend Shield but see that he is not there, and is fleeing for his life down the street.

TG: After him!

The townspeople give chase but they come to an intersection where there is no sign of him. They have lost his trail

EDOC: Spread out and search! He can't have gone too far!

COMM: Let's meet back here after we search.

TG: Good idea.

The townies spread out but find nothing. Upon returning to the intersection, they discover a figure lying in the center

SHEEP: Look!

It is the body of Shieldgenerator. The townspeople move in to examine the body.

NAG (examining the corpse): Asphyxiation. By choking.

COMM: But how do you explain these?

Commander lifts up Shield's head to reveal two slits in his cheeks. They continue their search and find a badge.

Shieldgenerator aka John Edward "Teddy" Gammel (Memento, 2000) Non-Town Cop has been killed.

Day continues. With 10 alive it takes 7 to lynch.

I have only seen Memento, Inception, and the Batman movies; can someone more familiar with Nolan's other work tell me if this method of death relates to any particular character?

I agree that it is an odd role, but it seems to fit the character pretty well. I wonder what third party it is. Survivor, or someone with a specific task that they need to accomplish to win perhaps?

I almost raged at the mod for giving a noob the cop role, but he isn't town so meh. Better off without him, sucks to lose any cop, but he was really going to waste our time.

So that wasn't a lynch, is that what we agree? Odd for the use of a DK, perhaps some sort of executioner. Might pay to be careful with the L-1s till we know for sure.

Indeed, that does seem to make sense. Don't know why I didn't pick up on that part earlier. So if it is the joker then it is almost certainly an anti-town role of some sort. If this turns out to be the case then it kinda sucks for the person playing him. I mean the way they made this kill it seems like they may have been going for a plan where they claim to be pro-town killing those who would be lynched to sort of give an extra lynch. If the scene points to the kill being made by the joker though, then that would shoot that plan to hell as claiming to be the joker as a benevolent third party is a suicide move. On a somewhat related note, do you think that the scum were given fake claims? With six films and a sequel to draw from it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to come up with 11 characters who are not obviously scum. Something we might want to keep in mind as people start to claim.

I definitely think the possibility of fake claims is there. As with Tarantino, there is definitely enough material to make some convincing claims and enough ambiguity to have some borderline characters. I think Harvey Dent/Two Face could go either way in terms of town/mafia.

I'm sorry to say, but you brought this yourself by doing what you did. Your role is a loss, but (assuming it was a DK and it definitely looks like it was Joker, who did this) you've talked in yourself into this.

After all considered, I'm suggesting that probably pressuring Nag is the best thing that we can do.
But... It was so artistically done.

Shield really is showing more and more signs of being a troll. Maybe he's just ignorant, though?
And wtf, Third party cop? Never seen one of those before.

The daykill has me worried.

Seeing how shield is third party, I'm discarding my case of edocsil and his protection of shield.

Yeah, that is likely the best thing that could have happened, I would have been in a tight spot otherwise.

OT: I am willing to blacklist shield, I have gone over his posts elsewhere in the forums I see a troll. He will not be welcome in my games until I see a change in his playstyle.

Vote Commander9

He has been very coy, very cautious, in the background - never actually placing votes but always trying to encourage pressure on others to vote.

With this post I found it very scummy, it is like he is trying to push edocsil or ficoal to continue on their votes on me so we can argue and go around in circles yet he won't actually start things off by actually voting me, he just wants to light the firelighter and sit back and watch the fire begin.

In fact commander, the onus is on you... go on then present a case against me... I'd like to hear it. Shield dropped hints of being a cop back on page 3 that is why I unvoted him. I voted him initially because he came accross as EXTREMELY scummy, why would I not vote someone who makes such OBVIOUS scumtells. Later when it was obvious he was being deliberatley beliigerent and trolling I avoided his bandwagon but of course others got involved... though apparently not you, you come out as having apparently defending him.. yet I don't really see any defence of him by you? Edocsil and fircoal did defend him at first, that much is clear, but I don't see a comment by you as having defending him other than reiterating points made by edocsil constantly.

Commander9 wrote:
edocsil wrote:What info would lynching the rookie get us? Shit, maybe we would get lucky and he is scum, but you all know the odds of him being scum are no more likely then any other person picked at random. I dislike how Nag looks to waste the entire day chasing down a rookie who simply didn't know better, rather then spend the valuable time hunting. IMO anyone who wants to waste a day should be hung from the closest tree.

100% agreed. I find that BW on him scummy and while I can understand what Safari/Nag said about pointing scumtells and jumping on them, jumping on a newbie for making a couple of scumtells that pretty much all of the noobs make regardless of their affiliations is just as scummy (if not more) in my book.

shieldgenerator7 wrote:Thanks again for coming to my rescue. Don't worry, I've learned my lesson. I won't do this again tomorrow (day 2), so you won't have to give me special newbie treatment.

Well, what about starting to play and learn today? ;)

Commander9 wrote:To be fair, he feels too safe. As much as I hate, vote shield.

In fact you were the third person at this point on his bandwagon, once it suddenly became OK to pressurise the newbie and rookie as you so called him so by your own admission you were trolling. This also when he had made a hint that he was potentially a cop that made me unvote and I also pointed that he was obviously trolling.

Following on from shield's death you then try to make it appear as if he was one of the guys who defended him in order to make yourself look good:
