Should start a new thread. 'Cryptic Film Titles'. It would be fun.

Les Mis (any of them) ?

Is that last one a painting of a real historic person? An actor?

Actually, haven't seen this one yet, but how about the prestige?

What are they propping his left leg up with, a couple of house bricks?

It's got a very 70s look about it. That hideous stairwell, the hippie bedspread, the guy's haircut.

None of the pics ring any bells, so I'm taking potshots in the dark for clues that may narrow it down a bit.

He doesn't look like a willing patient - strapped down for a wound that he got falling off a bicycle.

Because they're planning to saw it off.

See the bottles on the right? Alcohol and possibly other drugs to dull the pain and keep him relatively still. He's tied to the table, there's a tourniquet on his left leg (the one that's propped up), in the lower left corner you can see scissors, a knife and a saw (for getting through the bone).

I don't know what movie it's from though.

It was filmed in the 70's but the actual story is set towards the end of the American Civil War.

Yep they are about to chop his leg off without his knowledge/consent. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorened!

Something tells me you know this movie! ;)

I'm surprised no one recognises the guy in the last pic (except Jonesy). Here's a clearer shot of him just after he finds out they lopped off his leg!:

From IMDb....

While imprisoned in a Confederate girls boarding school, a Union soldier cons his way into each of the lonely women's hearts.

Sounds like the Jimmy Savile story!

If you haven't seen The Beguiled folks, you really should. For me at least it's finer than all Eastwood's later stuff, and shows the guy could actually act.
