I'm a tad new here, so pardon me if I'm forward in stating an opinion on the matter.
Whether or not the war in Iraq is justified is completely irrelevant. I'm not sure if a Vietnam War map has been made, but I don't think there would be any issues in making one, and there have been numerous questions regarding THAT war's justification. Something as subjective as the reasons for why a war is fought have no place in affecting whether or not a map is made. Not only are such things completely debateable, but it largely depends on what nationality you are, and since this is (I presume) an international community, such reasons for nullification of an idea are out.
As to whether or not the map should be made, I say tread carefully. The war is still a very active issue and still a belly-button of passion (one way or another) for many people of many cultures. Is it ethically incorrect for a map such as this to be made? Personally, I don't think so. However, is it for the best if such a map is made? Maybe not. It could increase tensions within the community if such a blatantly hot political topic is transformed into a map, and as we can clearly see in the responses to this thread, people ARE willing to let their political opinions be heard. It could stimulate tensions which we don't need...
However, as someone mentioned before, Iraq is in a region rich in history. Why not make a Mesopotamia map, and give the region a more "ancient" tone? Same geography, same region, different theme which would hopefully make everyone happy.
