copyright.

The NFL takes the use of its team names, Super Bowl logo uber-serious. Same goes for any other sports organization , MLB, NBA, NHL, and NCAA. The NFL is just the craziest about it... :?

Couple ways around it would be to use similar team colors and just the city names. Could do a newspaper sports page... that might be interesting. And there could be any sports stadium. I've been kicking around ideas about a baseball stadium I might put together at some point.

i'm pretty sure that's taken from MLB's 'regional broadcast' maps. you might be able to find other one's in that same vein to tinker with, and i'm not certain but i'm reasonably sure those aren't copyrighted.

Don't kid yourself, if it is printed or broadcast, it will be copyrighted, and no doubt those team logos are the intellectual property (trademarks, most likely) of someone other than CC.

You could always just change a couple of letters in each name to be legal, i.e. yankees could become yankeys, JAys becomes just plain j's and so on.

If you're going to do a baseball map, then perhaps a stadium map, rather than another map of the USA converted. ;)
