Conquer Sub

Okay... this is a very preliminary draft of this idea, but I think you can kindof get the point.

The subs will all have an equal number of areas (compartments or chambers).
In order to attack other subs you have to completely own all chambers within the sub you're attacking from.

If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to have a collaborator on this project!
(Coleman? Cairnswk? Oaktown? Anyone?)

Interesting idea but here are two issues

1) The current XML will not allow conditional attack systems. So you can't have the ability to attack subs once you own one.

2) Even if you could. It does not really make sense to attack a sub (underwater) with torpedoes (I assume) and transport troops.

P.S. You needed another poll option. I do not believe it is a good map, but that has noting to do with you or your family.

Elijah...i have to agree with Wm on this one. Sorry.

As a side thought from this, you could still have a map called this, and have a frigate or minesweeper above the water with several regions, and mines falling from the rear to the submarines below, with some scuba divas trying to attack the minesweeper from below....got the idea...that might be more interesting and workable....even some small submersables linked with lifeline equipment.... :idea: :wink:

Okay so looks like a resounding thumbs down on the idea... although Cairnswk did have some solid ideas on how to make it work...

On one note I do feel I should respond... as for widowmakers comment about it being unrealistic... hmmmm... I think it's probably as realsitic as a crossword puzzle, or dustbowl or any number of ideas (yes, some of which have been quenched) that have zero to do with the "war and conquering" theme.

Another thing is that when I thought of it I thought it would be cool if, once you controlled every part of a sub, you could torpedo other subs and eliminate the entire sub...
This would be problematic not only in xml restrictions, but also in the fact that graphics would be changed during a game...

Oh well... thanks for being candid. I'll probably 86 it.

I think it would be better if the map was one submarine

you could have different sections and levels (need the levels otherwise it becomes a purely boring linear map)

it's very much like Widowmakers' ship idea (which I think he said he was going to go back to after he's done with a few of his projects), but it might work better that way
