who here remembers that old computer game? it was one of my personal favorites way back when... since my first map idea was already used (and im personally not surprised, twas a big theme) here is one thats alittle less in the general populus. I would like this map to be based off of a very generalized starcraft map (NOTE: if you dont know what star craft is ill leave a short discription at the very bottom of this post) in this map the area will be cut in 3 main areas to account for every race. the basic rout in which each would be set up is the command center from the game, and every contry will be a unit, and each type of unil will come togeather to make a continent (EXAMPLE: 5 workers around the command center, on top of each unit is whare the number will be, togeather they all equil one continent, alittle farther out the basic fighters will be and again a number will be over each one for the risk game, and each of this unit will come togeather to make a full continent) the settup will be basically the same for each of the three with slight differences
1) Terrin(humans) - very edge is your command center, it will give you 1 army bonus on its own, around it you will have the workers, generally a large number much like the game, but will also make both it and the comment center hard to control, also most if not all of them will be linked to the command center. next layer out you have the basic soldiers, another layer out you have an upgraded sort of soldier, from there they will link to the basic defences, bunkers and missles commands for the outer defence, from there you enter the main battlefield, off to one side of the ranks you will have a group of the flight matchines, many more different types of units will be mixed in still holding the same sort of style, same units=full continent. The set up will be very even for this one, a mixture in syle of the other two much like in the game, terrin were the in between difficulty to use character (equivlent to say north america)
2) Zerg(evil aliens) - the basic set up will be the same as terrin, of course all the units are different but the signifigance of each is equil. The key difference here is that much like the game there will me MORE units to take per continent, whcih will make it much harder to take and control, however it will be easy to initially break into (equivlent to Asia)
3) Protoss(good aliens) - once again the basic setup is the same unit wise, the largest difference here is that the protoss in the game took longer to make but they were stronger in general, so the protoss will have few units but it will also be the hardest for an outsider to break into the specific fortress (equivlent to south america)
4?) Crystals(units of money) - maybe or maybe not for this one but just a thought, a 4th area in whcih the main focus is nothing but the gas emiters and the crystals you use to sustain your civilization, could have special circumstances such as there are like 5-6 crystals and they are +1 for every command center held per crystal. or maybe thats too much and it will just be one big group of them as its own continent, thats why there is a question mark i dont know if it will work.
There will be alot of added intracuices throughout the middle battle field of which units attack which some air units cant attack ground, some ground cant attack air, but i assure you i plan on making it very ballanced between the 3 areas.
Also possibility of useing buildings as areas? since in the game they are needed to make the units, id like this map to reflect the game as much as possible.
Star Craft: Is a computer game that was highly popular in the 90's, a civilization sort of a game much like age of empires, dune, and many MANY others like it. In this game you start off with 1 of 3 species zerg, protoss, and terrin. Terrin were the human race, the colonies, zerg were the evil race of mutating creatures that came to overrun the colonies, and the protoss were another alien race that was trying to stop the zerg. in the game you would start off with a base and a few builders they would build buildings based on minerals and gas collected, those building would spawn troops and the troops would fight for control of the map.
