nah i think it would be better if its for something better.... food? something that would be interesting to have on this map is those infected neutrals idea (where neutrals (at the end of EVERYBODIES turns) attack and attack until the neutrals cant attack no more)
food is good.
I think i've got the main story (if i can work out the graphics)
Its big village in a snowy valley surrounded by impassable mountains. In the end of an unusually harsh winter, all the families in [insert village name here] have begun to fight for the last supplies of food. Each house in the village has a small amount of food (+2 or +3 per turn) and there his a huge stockpile of food in an abandoned fort to the north (objective). Capture the ENTIRE fort (Inner room, 2 outer rooms, 3 courtyard areas, and 2 wall territories) and hold it to get the food and win the game. (or the fort could give +20 because it has so much food, and then you have to kill the other players like normal)
So, only the main village area and surrounding territories get people started on them. to reach the fort you have to cross a big empty space (with neutrals on it). Villages in South, Fort in north. so you will essentially have to start in the village, stockpile food (armies) and then make your way up to the fort. a few caves along the way might offer some protection from the weather (which decays you -1 on all normal territories (excluding the fort walls, fort building, village houses, and caves))
This would be an interesting map to play. with the huge gap between the bonuses (all in village) and the objective (to take the fort), you would have to manage your armies very well. You need to save enough to protect your bonuses, but have enough extra to fight with them in the fort. It would be a big balancing act with your availible armies.
There would be lots of strategies, which is a goal for all of my maps. a few possible moves are:
stay in the village and take all of the +2s and +3s and beat your opponents there.
go up and take the fort normally after saving a few armies.
wait until player X attempts to reach the fort, then follow his trail of 1s he leaves behind for an easy path.
Build your defence to block the other players from getting to the fort.
cut the fortification lines of the other players, so he can't fortify anything from the village to the fort.
and much, much more.
Do you guys like the concept?
