Re: Roman Gods vs. Greek Gods..

Postby Lexitonia5 on Sun Jul 13, 2008 1:34 pm

such a map would take some work a blend of Mount Olympus and maybe a coliseum. No Offense though, the Roman Gods and Greek Gods were not the same. They were born from two different cultures. Their purposes were similar but they weren't the same. That would be like saying Moses and Muhammed were the same. their purposes were similar but they weren't the same. Its simply not that way.

But such a map as this would offer great aesthetic value as well as play value. It would take a lesson or two in mythology and such a map would take a lot of work to design. But it could be done. Anything could be down.

I agree Lexitonia, they are not the same. However, how are you going to show any differences?

The Roman gods may have been born from Etruscan beliefs, but over the last three thousand years, the Roman and Greek Gods have become synonymous... What would you do to show the difference?

This is only a good idea if you can get people to understand, and with the similarities between the two, I don't believe you could.

what about adding all the gods..from Christian, Hindu, Buddism to the Sea Mythology, Roman Mytology, Greek.

(Christian God) should be in the middle since its the only1 with 1 god i think.. The map should be in the skeis, makeing Thunderclouds Impassibles?

What makes the main god Christian? A bit messed up for a world-wide game site that has people of all faiths.

I would be careful how you put what you are saying.

What about Judaism and Islam? They both only share one god. As a matter of fact, it's the same God for all three. haha

Wow, I thought everyone knew that.

I looked up on google to see how many different gods and goddesses exist. Its astounding. Vertually every culture seems to have god-like representations of everything from So I believe it would be ancient gods only coming from polytheisic religions. Since Christianity, Isaam and Judaism are monothiesic religions and they basically honor the same god, it would be hard to represent that god amonst a host of mythological characters. My idea was about mythology not about religion. I see what you were suggesting Androidz. I would most likely put Jupiter and Zeus in the middle and holding them both would represent big bonus points but they couldn't attack each other just one way hit the opposing gods.

I guess I will just have to roughly design a map and put it out there.

and one final note: Don't ever believe for one moment that everyone knows this sort of thing: "What about Judaism and Islam? They both only share one god. As a matter of fact, it's the same God for all three. haha

Wow, I thought everyone knew that." I don't raise my kids in religion so there's a lot they don't know. As a matter of fact I had to clarify recently that "Alah" and "God" are one in the same. This is a world wide community and not all people are raised to know the same things.

When i was a kid i played a board game where you was a mole and you had to gug down the board maps to reach a Golden Shuffle. You must captured the little holes and the board game and when one player got elimnated the board was lifted and new board was below.

So i was thinking some sort of Map Pack could fix this map, instead of elimnate players the one who have this "Holes" after 5 rounds or player elimnated will go down to next floor. Its mission based so holding the Shuffle 1 round will be instantly win. Also holding a hole for 1 round will make the terretorie yours and cant be attack so you will automaticly contineue to next board. The Board game was named Mole in the hole. So after evolving trough the next map via holes, it will become more like conquest you have 1 terretorie or more (thats if you have evolved trough more holes) And the rest neatrual.

Some info how the game was played:
Preparation
The Digging Layers
First the goal layer with the "Golden Shovel" is put into the bottom of the box. Over it the four colored digging layers are placed into the box starting with the bottom most layer and working up: first the blue, then the light brown, over it the red layer (different soil and rock formations) and the green layer (grass surface with mole hills) is the topmost layer. Each layer has digging holes (punched out). Each digging layer can be turned in six different positions. Thus there are always new ways to dig downward.

The Mole Figures
With two players each player receives 10 mole figures. Three players play with 7 moles each. With four players each receives 6 mole figures of a color.

The Turn Disks
Along with his mole figures each player takes a matching set of colored Turn Disks (valued at: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4), which he puts face down (numbers downward), well shuffled, and arranged in a row before himself on the table.

The Starting Setup
Beginning with the player with the largest hands, each player takes alternating turns placing one mole on the highest digging layer. One mole may be placed on each space. Moles may not be place in the digging holes (here: Mole hills) during the starting setup. This continues until all teams stand completely on the grass surface. Play moves in a clockwise direction.

The Game Begins
The goal for each player is to now get as many of his own moles as possible exactly into the digging holes because only these moles will continue to dig in the next layer. The starting player uncovers any Turn Disk from his row as his first and moves one of his moles exactly the number of spaces printed on the disk. Afterwards he puts this Turn Disk aside face up. On his next turn, he turns one of the remaining facedown 5 disks over.

If all digging holes of a layer are occupied this layer is removed with all moles still standing on it and put aside. All these moles are lost. Each player can continue the play only with the moles which jumped into a digging hole and onto the next layer. Thus fewer moles dig themselves from layer to layer. Any player that has no more moles in the game, unfortunately, is finished.

End of the Game
Whoever moves his mole into the goal digging hole first, wins the game and receives...

The "Golden Shovel"
After a nerve-racking and strength-draining digging competition the champion, accompanied by numerous rejoicing cheers and waves of enthusiasm, may now remove the last digging layer and celebrate the triumph of his mole, who enjoys being the winner of the "Golden Shovel".

If this map pack idea is approved this could work well on the USA Map pack to, so if you choose the "Map pack" at make a game you have to play all the serie of maps. This is just a bit diffrent.

Re: Why has no one done Little Big Horn?

Big Horn moved as well... lots of debris in Map Ideas these days.

If anybody is actually reading this, would it be in bad form for me to try and start a Japan map? We currently have two in the Foundry, both of which appear to be dead.

it's only bad form to start a new Japan map if you don't comment on my world map

to be serious, start the map. others aren't doing theirs so do yours. I'm sure yours isn't exactly going to be a carbon copy of theirs anyway. we have about 10 maps all based on europe so who cares.

Israel, 1,200 B.C.E. / The Twelve Tribes

Postby SuperShuki on Mon Jul 14, 2008 1:57 pm

The Land of Israel, as apportioned in the Bible to the Twelve Tribes, would be a great map. The cities would be territories, and Each tribe's area would be a 'country'. see maps at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_of_israel (The haggada map), http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e ... aanMap.jpg, search for 'Land of Israel, map' on the internet for more.

The 6 cities of refuge could start off neutral, and/or they could combine to make +6 or something.
