what hurts your eyes about them?

I used a 2 pixel pencil because the 1 pixel pencil is too thin IMO, and the 3 pixel pencil people typically think is too wide.

I actually fixed the ends last night, but it wasnt significant enough to waste more of my image cave bandwidth so you're in luck.

as for making it more subtle, lighten the color lower the transparency?

prefer old sea definately and also i was wondering wether winner will always be the blue and cream coloured continents. Im not knocking it but it looks like, especially the blue continent, will have so much power. It just seems a bit predictable i know some people like this style of play but it is not my cup of tea.

I like the desert and the sea textures, but... do these borders exist or did you create them? Because it looks like a draw from an 8 years old child much more than real borders... and we really could need to think about another ways to split the territories into continents... The river is a natural non-crossing border, why have same continents on both sides instead of each continent one sided?

The map doesn't visually stimulate any images of what I know as ancient egypt. Definitely look into making it feel like a desert and make it feel old.

The borders are pretty historically accurate, and I was planning on re continenting it though my continents made alot more sense with the across river borders that I havent put back in yet.

Do you have a colorset that may give it that feel?

that is my problem finding those colors.

I'd stick away from reds, pinks, purples. The nile is notoriously known for it's lush green areas...so perhaps some soft greens? And of course, sandstone, brown, perhaps and orange...gray, maybe even a light blue at the head of the nile? Who knows.

The map that inspired me is actually a Risk map for a game called ancient history lux, and I figured by the time it went through the foundry it'd be something entirely my own, which Is why I plan continent redesign etc.
