I would suggest to increase the territories to 42 (at least).

You can divide Kadikoy into 2 territories > Kadikoy and Bostanci (bordering Maltepe). Kinali ada should be connected to Bostanci.

You may also add an independent territory in Bostanci, called Selin's house

Another territory to be added could be Karakoy, bordering Eminonu, beyoglu, sisli and besiktas. Sisli has no border to bosphorus (sea border). So you can make sisli a little smaller.

You can also add names of Bosphorus, golden horn and marmara sea.

The two bridges on Bosphorus are very important for the chaotic traffic in Istanbul. You may think of the as being additional territories with some special bonus.

airports being able to attack any territory make little sense to me. you may want to start with neutral armies on both airports (eg 6 armies) and give +1 bonus added to the specific airport if conquered by a player (like in berlin map) and . If you want to implement this idea, you should take them both out of the colored regions. Another idea to give +1, +1, +2 bonus in total if someone owns both airports. (+1's to each airport, +2 extra bonus to anywhere the owner wants)

.

this is looking quite impreesive, should be a good play. I agree that some of the graphics need to be cleaned up/ updated. The uncrossable boreders a a bit rough and I'm not a fan of the red arromw for crossing the water. Theres a couple of the teritory names that could use a claen up as well, maybe a different font. Other wise its looking pretty good, keep it up

again, neither Ataturk nor Sabiha Gokcen are military airports... it doesn't make sense to make them so on this map.

true, but istanbul isn't a war zone either. it's just a game. my idea was to use the airports to bomb any other territory on the map, so in theory, when this battle for istanbul began, some armies took over the airports and started using them as military airports, just for the sake of the game. as far as bombing non-adjacent territories goes, you could depoly, say, 15 armies on an airport, then decimate your opponent, despite a heavily fortified "blockade" territory. it would definately change the strategy of the game... what do u think?

Sorry oaktown but at least Sabiha Gokcen is and still is a military airport. The airport even gets its name from a pilot called Sabiha who was the 1st woman army pilot.

Also if you look at Ataturk airport with google earth you will see the shelters holding military planes.

The military have a very strong grip on Turkiye at the moment and I'm sure they still use these airports. Espachaly with the fearly frecuent combat jets that we get flying over now and then.

the origin of the name of sabiha gokcen is correct, but it's a civil airport with regular national/international flights and with a lot of charter flights. it will become the second hub of istanbul in a short time.

you can believe me, because i fly regularly from sabiha gokcen to various destinations and i don't work for the army.

ok, this is entirely hypothetical, so bear with me: i think in a war scenario, it would be strategic to "convert" these civilian airports to military airports, or at least use the runways for fighter jets. even if this would not be realistic a in real life scenario, how about just for the sake of this game? all arguments aside, what do you all think about my idea... or is it just a bad idea... i'm kinda stuck here... thanks!

I think it makes sence... the only thing I don't like about having them being able to attack anywhere is it would make it a REAL PIG to hold anything Maybe you could have them just attacking one another and some other important places in Istanbul... Like maybe where there are large military bases (maybe "Maslak" wich is in your "Ayazaga" teretory"), or big bissness (levent where all the big banks HQs are (probably in the "Beşiktaş" teretory)...

hey guys, beside the names,

since the airports can attack ANY territory, wouldn't it be an idea to make a few countries on the sea (e.g. the islands) to be only-takalbe from the Airports? It would seem cool to me, as the islands dont give that much bonus and with the airports as-is you have to guard 4 territories...

i'm sorry, i was not clear about the airports attacking any territory... yes, they can "bomb" any territory, but they cannot take control of territories. they can bomb the crap out of a territory until the territory has one army remaining, then it will not be attackable anymore, so the owner maintains posession.

There are now 42 territories. How's it look? Am I close? I think I'm getting carpo tunnel, cataracts, and a severe loss of social life from this project.
I just noticed that there should probably be a hole blown in the wall that links Zetinburnu with Fatih, huh? but I will leave the wall of Constantinople intact (surrounding Eminonu).
I would like to do something more with the bridges. they kinda suck...bigtime. any advice? examples? p.s. i'm using photoshop for this
thanks!

there's a few things I like about this map, and there's a few things I don't like

I like the art on the north of the map. Dude (I recognize him, but can't remember his name) and the flag.

I don't like the art at the south, but that might be because of your water which I don't like either. They just don't look like they fit there. the water is too real for my tastes and clashes with the rest of the map.

I like the layout of the map, but many of your bonuses are quite off in my opinion. Here's what I would give for each continent.

Oh. Also you should probably rename these so European or Asian is actually part of the name because double names are not good (at least for XML purposes)

Western 4
Inland 2
Coastal 3 how does that Eminonu connect to the other purple territories? Or maybe it doesn't at all?
Northern 5

Islands 2

Northern 2
Inland 3
Coastal 5 (4 territories all with borders, 9 territories can attack it AND it borders 6 continents)
Southern 3

There's a calculator thing somewhere, but I can't remember what or where it is offhand, but it is a good guide to get starting numbers that you can look at and have people deliberate. Or, just use my numbers. hehe.

About the whole Airport thing. well it might be a good idea, but right now it doesn't feel like that type of map to me. Maybe you need to add more gameplay quirks. It seems like adding those in are just gimmicky and don't add anything to the map. It's a normal map and all of a sudden these airports are there.

I just don't think you should tread the middle ground. Either have it be a bigger part of the map's theme, or don't include it altogether.

If you do include them, you should have it say that Airports can bombard any territory that is not directly connected to the Airport.

Karakoy and Eminonu should be connected by a bridge (Galata Bridge)

I would have to go with edbeard on the water... It just dosen't fit in with the rest of the map...

As far as bonuses go I would go for somthing like this... I based most of it on how meny borders you would have to defend to keep it.

Europ:
Western-3... and some how make it only have 3 bordering states.
Inland-3
Coastal-4
Northern-5

Leave the Adalar as is

Asian:
Northern as is
Inland-4
Coastal-4
Southern-3

I think Selin is also right that Karakoy and Eminonu should be conected by a bridge... talking about bridges I think you should get some suspention bridge graphics for the ones going over the Bosforus (sorry if it's spelt rong). I you realy want it to represent the ones here you wand one with the cables going in sort of a V shape for the Ataturk bridge (southern one) and one with strate cables for the northen bridge (I cant remember what it's called right now).

As for the airports you are right Selin... I wasn't saying that they aren't used by civil airlines (easyjet... pegasus etc.) just that there is still a presence of military planes there. And I wouldn't be suprised if the military did use the airports if there ever was a war in this arier of Turkiye (I would be surprised about the war though).

On a general note I REALY like what you've done with the graphics on the northern part of the map... good work 8)

if you don't then you have to increase the bonus for that purple region. my feedback was based on you putting a bridge there (I believe I read that you were going to do that)

I think they should be connected there. I don't see a good reason why they shouldn't be connectd. But, maybe you have one?

It's looking good... I like the way that you've broken the wall.

A very little thing... would it be posable to make Ataturks pik faid in a bit more as it goes over the teritorys?? He just seems to encroch a little too much...

I like the bridges too... any chance to them being little more 3d???

Unfortunatly I dout that your nealy done... you should be getting moved to the Map Foundry soon... then you will get much more feedback.
