Sure it's not a real "CC" style map, but DiM is one for breaking the rules. There's many other maps I don't play anymore. I say there's place in the game boards for this. My vote is to keep going on this.

exactly what i say. if you're not willing to risk your points on simple luck then you have 50+ maps to strategize all you want. the niche for gamblers is empty and it's screaming for a map.

You will have to make this without the forum and pm it to lack when you have finished.

Because it is against the forum guidelines to have anything that would create gambling on CC

You are screwed DiM if you post about this map anymore you will get banned, i will report you :P

gambling money is illegal gambling virtual points is perfectly ok.
in fact every time you enter a game you gamble your points. even if in other maps strategy plays an important role it's still gambling. remember poker is also about luck not just skill. i could beat anybody if you deal me a royal flush each and every hand.

Therefore the bet is pointless, and will serve nobody, it is like polls on maps, people will vote yes if they are not too sure which one to go for.

Back to the map.
I agree this is strategyless map, but me personally i love the idea of quick points. Though i dont think i would play this much, probably just once or twice for a laugh.

the crossword thing is different because the crossword map is already in play and the fact that it's the least played map of all kinda explains everything.

and regarding the bet, i'm not talking about a poll but rather about conducting a market study via pm on a large enough sample of people to reflect if people would play such a map.

large enough survey?

with 150,000 odd players on CC a large survey will have to be at least 10% so you are looking at asking 15,000 people if they would play this map, that is one hell of a lot of pms.

actually there are only close to 20,000 active players on CC. remove all those with less than 10 games played and i think the figure will be something like 15,000. i say asking 1000 people is doable and rather representative for CC. or at least it's a hell of a lot more opinions than the foundry ever got and ever will

Honestly I'm not fond of this or that egg idea either.

Doodle Earth is one thing. It's still conquer club though (well at least very close to it).

These maps are just gambling. There is the strategy of should I attack, or should I let others attack first. But, honestly this will come down to luck of the dice 90% of the time.

Conquer Club is about strategy and having fun. Points are just a byproduct. I don't want to see a map that, in my opinion, is solely based on points.

A lot of people will play it. Point grabbers. I don't think that's a good thing. Earning points is what matters.

I remember how you stopped unfair freestyle point gaining tactics in 1v1 games. You might not have done it in a way that everyone liked or thought was proper, but nobody can use these tactics again to get points. To me, this map goes against what that person did. Conquer Club is about fun and strategy not about gambling for points.
I agree.

i can't lose the bet. i'm 100% sure there are hundreds of people willing to play this map. that's why i even dared suggest such high stakes for this bet. i quit map making and leave the foundry. simple as that. and i am a man of my word.

if you agree then perhaps you'd like to answer the question i asked edbeard.

if lots of people will play this map then why deny them the pleasure of doing it just because a few people won't play it?

people told me AoM is too crazy to be played and yet it is. the same people said doodle earth is crap and won't be played and if i remember correctly some harsh words where said like "disgrace to other maps" and stuff like that. and yet doodle earth is very played.

again i ask just 2 things.

1. for people that say this won't be played.
"what makes you say that?"
2. for those that admit it will be played but don't want to see it made.
"why?"

i don't see where's the abuse on that?

freestyle with new recruits? how can you abuse that? if they don't take their turn then it's solely their fault it's not like you're forcing them to not play. sorry but i really don't see any way to abuse this map.

On this map in freestyle it will end within half a minute of kicking off. A new player on his first game does not get his go done in this time...

so how's this abuse?

is it my fault that a guy that makes a freestyle game on this map is not paying attention to the map? it's entirely his fault and that's not abuse.

same thing can happen in a 2 player freestyle game on doodle earth.

i get 6 terits you get 6 terits. i start attack and kill 2 of your terits then bring all my troops next to you. in 2 minutes and 30 seconds i can go again and if you're not paying attention i can eliminate you. same deal. not paying attention and losing is entirely your fault and you can't blame the other guy of abuse.

Well the point of this map is to be 100% luck. In the described event it is not...it add's a level of skill to the map. Is that not abuse?

so skill is abuse? strange, then i wish to complain i have more than 100 games where i lost because i was abused

actually no. you'll just lose a few points. join another game and perhaps you'll get them back and something extra :D

I think he meant if you lost your bet

i can't lose the bet. i'm 100% sure there are hundreds of people willing to play this map. that's why i even dared suggest such high stakes for this bet. i quit map making and leave the foundry. simple as that. and i am a man of my word.

I don't doubt that you would...but I find this idea of 100% luck silly...it also has the abuse option...freestyle with ?'s...

i don't see where's the abuse on that?

freestyle with new recruits? how can you abuse that? if they don't take their turn then it's solely their fault it's not like you're forcing them to not play. sorry but i really don't see any way to abuse this map.

You're on about speed games. Well i'm pretty sure people would find ways of getting lots of points on this map simply by joining last in freestyle and smashing the auto-attack button...

again that is not abuse. if you make a freestyle game and then go to lunch it is entirely your fault.

It is when the design is to be 100% luck. Same as the double turn in freestyle 1v1 was called abuse as you could stop your opponent having 24 hours to make their move, as it was designed...

A map this simple does not need to be this large. I implore you to further shrink it down to the recommended height for large (600 px).

Thank you for losing the 100 you already did though.
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

no problem will do it. it's just that photoshop has the map preset and it's always at 800*800 px
