I also need suggestions on where to put the two extra elements, but that can wait to help balance things out later

Great job and you could put 119 by hydrogen and 120 by helium and then have a connection between those to

Oops I forgot about the energy levels, ok so 119 would have 8 energy levels with 1 electron in the last shell causing it to have to be in group 1 which means 120 would be in group 2, and both would be in period 8

but who really cares where it is on the map. Yes, i know what you are talking about ( we just learned energy levels and periodic table stuff in chemistry), but we are looking for a good STRATEGIC position for elements 119 and 120, not a chemically correct position (at least thats what i want... sfh is that good for you???)

yep, we're creating a couple of impossible elements, would love suggestions about where to put them.

ok: the continents colored on this map are OFFICIAL unless someone has a problem with them. the only thing on this image that will be final is the locations of the continents and the countries that make up each continent (unless someone has a problem with it. if you think something needs to be changed, please post it here ASAP! i am starting the map tonight and i am planning to get some color on it by the end of the weekend)

we cant decide if hydrogen should be part of the alkali metals/ alkali earth metals continent ( purple/pink) or if it should be a country by itself with no continent. please post saying what you think.

ok guys there is only one problem with making this map:
when the image is small enough to fit on the CPU screen, the text of the element names is too small to read, due to the size of the boxes for each element. the only way i can think of to get around this is to only use the element symbols w/o the element names (but in the drop down list where you select what country you are attacking, it could say something like " Se (Selenium))" then people will end up learning (sad but true) what element symbols go with each element.

So, some territories will have names, and others just symbols?? Tsc, tsc...
Wouldnt atomic numbers help a lot in this?

By the way, shouldnt you post a continent-by-continent analisys? Or maybe you will get a kind soul to think about playability checking if each of the continents is good enough... but I doubt it. Well, if you do the analisys, you will realize, for example, the lighter blue continent is a piece of shit. So, maybe you could explain us why the continents should be like they are now, instead. I admit, I usually do analisys like that, but Im tired, and not really interested in this idea, so, if you post it, maybe I can give a word.

Im sorry everyone. As much as i want to be for an idea like this, i just want to go on the record as officially saying, "This is a Horrible Mistake". It might sound good now, but it's lack of playability and lack of interest in the map in general will haunt you forever.

thanks for posting marvaddin. sfhbballnut will be on here later today, and he is the one that is in charge of the playability stuff (continents, bonuses, boundaries, etc) he will fix the blue place as well as anywhere else that needs to be changed.

and for the country names, i think that the countries will be named by their elemental symbol (the numbers will still be in the continent, though). it was just going to be too much of a problem to try to fit one of the long names (like Mendeleevium) in the small boxes and still have them readable on the small map. if you have a better idea for how to name the countries, please post it.

i have changed the countries on the right half of this image to what i think will be the final layout for the names. the number will be in the top left, symbol in the top right, and the army shadow in the bottom/center part of each box.

and marvaddin: there will be many borders within the continents that make it more limited and more playable. the light blue continent you were complainng about is going to be mostly blocked off with only one or two border countries.

Image
this is how i want the countries to look finally. i will give them color and add in some borders (as soon as sfh decides where the borders are going to go.

Elements 110-118 will eventually have some kind of name (probably element numbers)

EDIT: i will fix where the numbers are located on Indium (#49 In) and Thallium (#81 Tl) before my next update on the image.

for the colors that serve as the backgrounds for the countries, should it be:

one solid color for each continent? (CC university)

generally same color, different tints/shades for each country? (canada map)

some kind of pattern in the background of the continents? (europe and brazil map)

a design in the background of each continent? (United states map)

a gradual blend of colors throughout the continent? (north america map)

please post to vote. it would be helpful if you can tell me a map that has similar coloring to the kind that you think would be good.

I agree with this... I cant imagine people playing this, since its alike to Crossword, our most hated map... in fact I think there is no space for these 2 blocky maps, and if we get this one, remove the other. You see, mostly posts are just of creators, so, what interest? And no option in the poll is growing recently.

Anyway, it looks terribly ugly... This way of put the names is bad (you should look for other one, although we can even decide for this one later), and the lines between 56-57 and 88-89, plus 57 and 89 being moved is simply ridiculous. Leave them where they were, and just connect 88 to 57 (or 89) by a normal angled line. Each square is also a huge wasted space, no need of this size.

And is that difficult post continent analisys? Like I said, Im not enough interested to do it and think about it as usual. And how you can someone to discuss continents if the image is incomplete about them?

What if you make the two extra countreis the connecting lines for the lanthanide and actinide series?

Also, i like how some other periodic tables have the lines, looks kinda liek this

[Ba]---|
[Ra]-| |
| |-[La]
|--[Ac]

(main point is that theyve got right angles, not a diagonal line) You could definately make each line a territory, flows better with the map.

As someone who enjoys chemistry, PLZ dont' diregard the laddre for your boundaries. Maybe put a bridge in for aluminum and polinium, the only metal that touches the bridge. plus i really think metalloids should be two small territories, not clumped with the metals and nonmetals.

I also think that halogens should be a separate territory, with some boundaries added in.

edit: made a rough sketch so you'd see what it looks like (btw, F, O, N, and Cl continent is of the 4 most electronegative, its either that or group together the diatoms (Br, I, N, Cl, H, O, F)

i like it, except for the small pink 3 country territory. for your idea, could that continent be lumped with another in the area?

do with it what you will, i'm just putting up some suggestions that are more chemically sound. Maybe put a birdge to carbon, and make carbon purple or make the three of them green. Maybe make a diatom continent sans hydrogen.

A huge problem i see is the Lanthanide and Actinoid series are VERY strange to split up, since its so long and narrow. It woudl be tuck between a high bonus for the large amount of countries and a small one for the small amount of boudaries. Maybe you could try making the entire area continent-less.

Thank you for that, the territories make a lot more sense thatn the way we had them and here the lay out written:

Alkali Metals- 7/6 territories, depends on what we do with Hydrogen. Boundaries: questionable, I’m all for leaving it wide open because of the reactivity.

Alkali Earth Metals- 6 territories. Boundaries- same as alkali we’ll figure that out.

First Transition Metals- 11 territories 7 boundaries- border within the transition metals?

Second Transition Metals- 10 territories 8 boundaries- again extra borders in there somewhere?

Third Transition Metals (Fe)- 9 territories 7 boundaries- same as the other two

Fourth Transition Metals (ZN)- 8 territories 7 boundaries- same

Metalloids and Non Metals- Questions through out good ideas in there but the tree territory continent has got to go I’ll leave those out of this until I have time to work on that
For now the metals side of the line looks pretty good, and I like the metalloids but the other side is a mess. Halogens+ N an O is good as well. we’ll work on the rest.

Noble gases- definite continent, 7 territories 2-3 boundaries.

First Lanthanide and Actinide Series- 12 territories 3 boundaries. This one probably won’t stay like this because the other is ridiculous. 18 territories, 2 boundaries, so its out unless someone has a reason for it to stay.

i think hydrogen and helium should be seperate from continents and used as +1 Bonuses

i dont like your avatar, balsiefen.

i dont think we will do any 1+ bonuses for hydrogen or helium. they will either be lumped with nearby continents or be indavidual countries with no bonuses.
