Indochina Map - Border Issue

Postby fubarcivic on Sun Apr 30, 2006 8:45 am

There's a problem with the Indochina map. If you make the map full size (Large) you will notice that the country of Dien Bien Phu has a border touching Hua Phan, it's small, but it's there. But you cannot attack Hua Phan from Dien Bien Phu. Maybe there should be an indicator that you cannot attack, or have the borders fixed and actually be able to attack it...

That's not the only border problem with the Indochina map...

I'll make it more obvious that that's not an attack route, don't expect much in the next week or so though I have finals.
Andy stop being so mysteriously critical, if it's a serious problem post it, if you just want to tell me how there needs to be less border countries (for what I think is the 32nd time) than just do it in the map foundry topic or start a topic in the flame wars section. I'm open to suggestions but you and Marv just saying this map sucks, over and over again does not help. I'm willing to make changes I've taken your considerations to hart. I understand that it and I are not perfect, I'm not a 2 year old you don't need to tell me the same thing twice a day everyday.

Marv I do want your help I just think you both tend to repeat your selves a little to much, I think I've clearly shown a willingness to listen, as in updated versions, at the same time I disagree that the overwhelming majority of people think my map sucks in fact I've had more people say things that are positive then negitive to me. Some people don't like it and I respect that, those people don't however go around on my topic and when ever I propose something simply respond by that idea sucks, this map sucks, and it's unplayable. You've admitted to not playing it so I stand by that you can not in anyway be considered an athority on the matter, Andy on the other hand was willing to give it a run. I'm willing to listen to what he's saying on the matter but I don't appreciate it when people simply tell me that my idea is bad and that what I'm saying is wrong, tell me why my idea is bad, tell me why it's wrong.

Look, I have to agree, if you're going to complain, complain with a recommendation or suggestion. you're just being stupid and repetitive if you keep saying something sucks. Saying something sucks is one thing, however, how do you propose he makes it better? How is he supposed to know what would make it "not suck" if you don't provide him with suggestions?

I can say things suck all the time, but how will you improve the situation if you keep giving the same answer a two year old can... "I don't want the red lollypop" over and over will not tell your mommy what colour you DO want...

I think the borders issue should be looked into, however, I do admire the fact that you've done a complete overhaul of this map in very little time. I will play it some more as I like the CHALLENGE of there being lots of neighbouring countries, it enables us to spread our armies thin, rather than stack them up and have a 20 vs 18 battle... Wish there were more maps like it.

Also, when you do complete the map with all borders defined, could you please make sure it is obvious where you can/cannot attack? I would point out to the Africa map which is clearly outlined in bright blue that you cannot attack over certain borders.

Other then that, keep up the good work! I'd like to see a map of South America, if you're looking for a future project ;)

Cheers!!!
