this must have been done to death but since there arent any active topics on it i'll make this. well this site is essentially risk but things are fudged here and there to make this "a world domination site which some consider similar to risk". it would be cool to have axis and allies style maps, stressing style because it doesnt have to be world war 2, but basically the uniqueness of axis and allies compared to risk is that you actually get to control sides that is properly linked up and have real strategies rather than just a battle royale. obviously it would be hard to balance but then it would be random so eventually it evens out, so you can have starting positions and in big wars there are usually heaps of countries (in world war 2: germany, japan, italy, russia, and you can do usa and uk twice, once for each theatre of war). then kind of like omega cities you can have lists of things inside a territory without taking up room in the territory itself, so like infantry and tanks and stuff, infantry in A&A move 1 space and tanks move 2, so infantry can assault one space ahead and tanks can do 2 etc, and the fighters and bombers can bombard stuff but only if they have assaulted the anti-aircraft gun of that territory. minor factories can be autodeploy of 3 and major can be 5 or something. man this would be awesome!

Yeah, there are just some problems... Unlike A&A, CC doesn't make a distinction between troop types, all troops are just troops. Mapmakers can try to get around this, but look for example at stalingrad which has lots of different types of troops: tanks, infantry, planes... thing is, you can have 20 troops on an "infantry" territory, then you reinforce them to a "tank" territory, and suddenly your 20 infantry units become 20 tanks...

I've been thinking of ways how this could be circumvented... for example, every territory would be divided to "infantry", "tank" & "plane" sections... the different sections couldn't assault each other, only bombard, and they could bombard different troop types of adjacent territories, but they could assault the same troop types on adjacent territories. This way, you couldn't magically convert infantries to tanks, but they could still fight each other. Although, this still wouldn't be an ideal solution, since all troops would still be equal in power...

I tried it on my WWII pacific map once supersize was allowed and its possible to have each unit type on the map... but the real problem I found was unlimited attacks. Basically, I figured everyone would sit and stack in the various starting positions and wait to make a dash across the Pacific... not very WWII like.

You give us a limited attack XML update and presto, Axis and Allies.
