In addition to this thread, the following two abandoned maps are also related to the concept of Pangea:

Pangea Triassic - viewtopic.php?f=242&t=11424

What do you think? I took color from it to make it easier on the eyes for some :P

I don't know about country number and if this amount is ok. I also haven't put much thought into continents or if it'll be more of a free-for-all sort of map with no bonuses  ,anyway gimme your feedback please. :D

i think it looks a little shapless,

Postby joetalk on Mon Mar 27, 2006 4:21 pm

it may be acurate but my first impression is not to impressed, however a little color may change that, try grouping the territories to define the shape and objective, that is important when looking at a map,

I think it needs some work on the Country layout. Such as the one country that runs between N. America, S. America, Africa, and Antartica. Its awkward and makes it able to attack countries from one side of the map to the other side of the map in 1 or 2 turns. Some of the larger land masses should also be divided. If you go over it again, I'm sure you can find the places that need work. The idea of a free-for-all, no continent map sounds interesting. I hope to see this map work.

Same problem of North America map. Some gigantic regions, and others tiny. It can be solved, of course.

Anyone like the idea of an Antacrtica map? I have some materials to use, and could get one started.

Sound's cool to me. Antartica's pretty blank as in terms of real territories and borders. You could do almost anything with it.

I love most maps, and I thought that Marv was way to hard on the North America Map, but this map SUCKS. No offense, but this is possibly the worst map I have seen on this sight. The idea itself is cool, but it would not be a good map. I am telling you right now not to waste your time. The only way this map will make it onto the sight is if you completely change it.

In fact, Im also not wanting incentivate you to do this map playable. As Machiavelli said, you would need change it completely. There are uncountable good maps waiting to be done, I can suggest Russia (I would do it, but Im working in another idea... only thinking yet) or USSR, for example... So, if you want do a map, put here other ideas and we can help you.

Pangea Map

Postby Hoff on Mon Apr 03, 2006 4:03 pm

I think it would be a good idea to do a map of pangea. So you can have all the same continents as teh classic map, but they will be arranged as they would be in Pangea. I think it would be an interesting map. Let me know if this is possible or if anyone likes the idea.

It sounds like it could possibly be interesting, but you'd probably need to make a lot of artificial boundaries between "continents" somehow, or else it'd be nearly impossible to defend anything.

(Also, now that it look, it appears there's already a Pangea thread: http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=810)

Yeah, I threw out the idea of the Pangea map a while ago...and it isn't that good of one either. :) I just hoped to spark imaginations.

Good fantasy map. I like the fact that there are a few countries inside of countries. But, I don't like how there are also a few countries that are extremely thin. We could fatten those up a bit.

i brought it up in the map ideas free to a good home forum. We weren't too thrilled with the idea, basically cause it would just be the classic map jammed into one of those single landmass maps, which i'm not a huge fan of in general. but looks like someone is getting started with it either way.

You do know how unintelligent you sound when you write that, right?

"No, that is nothing like Pangaea. Do you even know what it is?? Oh my god... it's horrible!"

Sorry, I really had to correct that.

Ouh? A "good fantasy map"? You are aware that Pangaea (derived from a Greek word meaning all earth) is the continent that existed during the geologic eras of Paleozoic and Mesozoic? Basically continental drift split up Pangaea and eventually the present continents was formed. It really has nothing to do with fantasy literature if that was what you referred to.

No need to apologize! I for one was happy to see the correction.

When I first read the earlier post, it actually took me a moment to realize that "Horabol" wasn't some fantasy continent that the poster was confusing this with.

I said "fantasy" map because I know how implausible it would have been for the continents to have possibly moved from that state into what we have now. I could give you mountains of evidence how it's impossible, but I don't want to make this into a debate. That's why I said "Fantasy map" and left with it there.

---Good, the Foundry isn't for such debates. ;) Fantasy map or no fantasy map, the pangea idea for a map would be rather difficult to do, and to do well. If someone wanted to give it a shot, by all means go ahead, but I'm not sure this idea has a future. There are lots of other good suggestions waiting out there, and this might not be one of them.
