Standoff

Postby 00iCon on Wed Jul 08, 2009 1:45 am

This is going to be one of the simple, small maps on conquer club.
8 starting spots, 12 other territories.

Story: Basically, a drug deal or a meeting has been spoiled.

How big is it meant to be?
I provided this one so you can see my general idea and the staring positions, as well as the look/theme

If someone wishes to offer their services, I need a mapmaker. I'd prefer to practice my XML on this map, but if no-one wants to touch it, I'll finish it.

Is there any logic for how you decided what names attack eachother? Or was it done randomly?

For example, why does the Italian guy only attack the russian guy and no one else?
If they're supposed to be sitting around a round table, shouldn't each person be able to attack both neighbors sitting next to them at that table? Or is there a wall that prevents Kenji from killing the italian?

Some guys have one gun, two guys have 2. The guys that have 1 gun get the advantage of access to bombardment and 'defense'. Posting an image soon. Plus, i did not specify it was a round table, my concept was actually rectangular.

Actually in your image currently up there are 4 people with 3 guns :)

I do not understand what is happening in the pic, who is fighting who.

If it was simply a hold up gone bad, then it would be neutrals as your hostages, then whoever your robbers are, and then your police or whatever. I think the story needs a bit more work. With a bit more detail I might be able to attempt at a rough schematic of an attempt at a map.

If you want people in the map then it wont be anything passed stick people if I were to draw it, but that is still a new idea stick people drug bust gone bad. :P

Idk lets see what you have :)

So this is an image I made 2 months ago and just couldn't be bothered trying to change since. I need to know if it's good so far. I should redo the whole thing because I didn't make the characters on a separate layer :S

I think the map and the idea could benefit from placing these people in some more firm criminal scenario, as HighBorn indicated.

An Old West shootout could work well- there are actual examples like Tombstone (OK Corral, etc.) or fictional like any Spaghetti Western that come to mind- and could then include a geographical context like buildings, banks, water troughs, any cover really. Not, mind you, that the terts would become locations, but rather the people-territories would be associated with a location- essentially like the SuperMax Prison Riot! map.

For that matter, you could also mix the terts between people and objects/places (like the Shotgun you have on the original draft idea). In this vein, if your scenario really was a bank heist, then the Loot could be part of a gameplay objective. For instance if you hold both the Getaway Van and the Loot and the gang leader, you win. Or maybe just worth a big bonus.

Anyway, a cops vs. robbers vs. other robbers might be nice for even a small map.

A bank robbery is already being done. http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=241&t=77141&start=570
I want this map to be rather small and the fictional sapect allows for more creative freedom and prevents gameplay issues.
