help needed/army men warz!

hey ive had this idea floating around in my head for about a week so...

An Army Men map kinda like the tan and green war with Army Men? i can give a rough draft in a few and if anyone thinks its a good idea maybe you can help me make it? im not good at graphics ;) . just took a picture of a sketch but cant find my upload cable so here goes.

War! Tan forces are rolling rapidly into Green borders and have pinned them at their last battlefield where their HQ is its up to Green to win and up to Tan to crush Green.

huh didnt know but the map he did is different from the map im doing except i cant find my damn upload cable :evil:

For starters, 25/26 territories seems pretty small. The "standard" sized map is 42 territories, and it's best that you make the starting positions evenly divisible by the common number of players.

So if there are no starting neutrals, then 36 territories is a good number because it is evenly divisible by 2/3/4/6 players. 5 and 7 player games are not very common, and 8 player games wouldn't work well on such a small map. If you want it to work for 8 players I would recommend 48 or 64 territories but I realize that is beyond the scope you are envisioning.

It's hard to comment on gameplay before seeing even a rough sketch. It is okay to do sketched in MS Paint if you spend some time on them, but as you mentioned someone with better skills and software will need to take over.

As for theme, I think army men are okay. They are very popular childrens toys, and deal with war so it lends itself easily to the idea of global domination. The problem may be creating unique gameplay options which fit well with the army men theme, and the graphics themselves. John's early versions show the difficulty of trying to mesh real pictures and cartoony ones into a coherent theme. Good luck!

i had had a few islands and i think i should make just one huge piece of land and go from there gotta change the bonuses though

Maybe you and John 9 blue could make an entire story of army men maps

somebody could do the initial map of their world
then the invasion by the tan
taking of the mainland by the tan
the final resistance here
the comeback, being a close up of the green continant
the sea and air fight between the continents
invasion of the tan
mainland
continent
final struggle.

You have what, 10 maps all theme with army men, and having unique locations :D
this would sprout off a lot of army men tourneys. It would be cool to have an entire army men series like this!

I would be happy to do all of designing, story, and XML for each map in the story.

One thing though, I don't know how could incorperate army men onto the maps of larger areas. I personally would like to maybe drop army men as being the main theme, and call it conquer story, but then again, I would be completely dumping your idea about army men :- P
