This morning we moved our database over to a more powerful server. Because of our ever-growing membership the database had become a bottleneck limiting Conquer Club's performance, but this upgrade should provide us plenty of capacity for growth. Thanks to this and the web server upgrades of December 2007, CC will be running better than ever!
Server Specs:
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 ES (64-bit)
* Dual Processor, Quad Core Intel Xeon
* 8 GB Memory (Fully Buffered)
* 2 x 73 GB (10k RPM) SCSI Drives, RAID 1
* 4 x 73 GB (10k RPM) SCSI Drives, RAID 10
* Redundant Power
* 100 Mbps
As many of you have noticed, the CC's performance was unacceptably slow in late February and early March. To show our gratitude for your loyalty and for putting up with poor service, we've compensated anyone who was active during slowdowns and hiccups. Everyone that qualified for this compensation will get their Premium Memberships extended by two weeks or be given 2 free Speed Games (for free members) and should receive a PM about it shortly. Now that we have much more capacity (and we've learned to upgrade sooner!) such performance problems should not happen again.
