Indeed, as is the case in quite a few divisions!
And what a coincidence, the final match is between the top 2 in the group (both you and co-co have a 3-2 record), so the winner advances! Sort of a divisional final :)

Oh that's cool :D

Well played everyone in Lower Egypt division, after taking a 3-0 lead I nearly blew it, the final game against Dibbun was close, shame we could not both go through, but that's football !

A crucial standings update: quite a few divisions settled after some clutch victories.

Beware, 2010 World Cup champion co-co has just barely snuck through after great competition and has secured a spot in the Africa Final
...And we already have 1 division needing a playoff match (France), with matters still undecided after 6 close rounds.

Don't have time to create games right now but will try and get most out as soon as I have a chance :D

I expect some more great match-ups and results ahead!

I think Haiti is gonna be a 4 way tie. Now what?? What kinda playoff system will that take?

If this indeed occurs, then,

If more than two players have the same number of wins after all six rounds of divisional play, then a Standard game will be created for the players with the identical ranking. The winner of the game is ranked highest. The player in second place is ranked next highest. The player in third place is ranked next highest, etc. Thus, the player eliminated first would be ranked lowest.

So it'd be a 4-player Standard game on Haiti, winner moves on.

Tournament Update

(Includes games created on Friday, August 19 and those created August 22) Round 6, the final round of divisional play, begins for San Francisco, Vancouver, Brazil, Jamaica, Haiti, Central America, Wales, Ireland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Malta, France, Egypt: Lower, Egypt: Nubia, Madagascar, Hong Kong, Japan, Middle East, and Australia divisions.

Round 5 begins for San Marino, Germany, Scotland, Greenland, Mexico, and NYC divisions.

Round 4 begins for Montreal division.

After a busy week in the Cup and a busy week in my life, I have finally updated the boards; many of you have perhaps been anticipating game results.

Standings up to date as of August 26, 11:49 P.M. Eastern North American Time (3:49 UTC).

Tournament Update

8/26 (August 26) Round 6, the final round of divisional play, begins for Greenland, England, Scotland, Italy Egypt: Upper divisions.

Round 5 begins for Chicago division.

The BeNeLux conference, featuring the advancing players from the Netherlands and Luxembourg divisions, begins play.

To comment on just a few of the numerous exciting and impressive performances,

  • Props to overlander, who is thus far the only player to have a perfect divisional record: 6 wins, ZERO losses.
  • The Haiti division will have a wicked ending, as all 4 competitors remained tied with 3 wins, 3 losses after all 6 rounds of play. As the tie-breaker policy states, only a 4-player Standard game will resolve this great stalemate.

Hi logman, to post your list of preferred divisions for the WC4J Thank You CC Cup, post them here: viewtopic.php?f=91&t=136620&start=195

My apologies, I realize in hindsight that I should not have sent the signature for this tournament along with the message as this may have confused you.

I am quite sorry about the inexcusable delays, mjs28 and all the others in the Portugal division: I had a Word document that has the current round each division is in, and for some reason I had Portugal in Round 4 and didn't check the statuses of the games because I assumed they were still ongoing.

My greatest apologies, Round 4 has promptly begun.

Standings up to date as of 9/1 (September 1, the date World War II began with the infamous and horrible German invasion of Poland), 4:59 P.M. Eastern North American Standard Time (20:59 UTC, London Time).

Tournament Update

9/1 (September 1)

The Asian Final, featuring the advancing players from the Japan, Hong Kong, Middle East, and Australia divisions, begins.

Round 6, the final round of divisional play, begins for Chicago, Mexico, and Germany divisions.

Round 5 begins for Montreal division.

Round 4 begins for Portugal division.

Now the serious stuff starts, good fortune to you all; no one wants to go out before the finals; at least it can't go down to penalties.

Indeed. With only a few divisions left in divisional play (Portugal, Montreal, Chicago, Mexico, Germany, and England), most players will soon begin to feel the heat as the stakes are raised. Each league final is just 1, 4-player Standard game, with only the winner advancing. Then there's the ultimate 8-player Cup final.

Tournament Update

9/4 (September 4)

The African Final, featuring the advancing players from the Egypt: Nubia, Egypt: Upper, Egypt: Lower, and Madagascar divisions, begins.
