Official Monthly Challenge for March 2022
Brought to you by the Community Team.

There Be Gold In Them Thar Hills

Though the first popularly documented discovery of gold in California was on March 9, 1842, 180 years ago, the "gold rush" didn't really start until 1848.

The United States purchased Alaska on March 30, 1867 (155 years ago). Just 29 years later, gold was discovered there as well, leading to another "gold rush" in US history.

Maybe I missed it, but I take it the winner is the person with highest winning percentage over at least 20 games?

FAQs:

Who can play a Challenge?
Challenges are open to everyone!

How do I join?
No signups required. Join and/or create games that meet the given parameters for this month as found in the OP. Only public games count towards the challenge unless otherwise explicitly stated in the challenge OP. There is also a "join games" link in the OP to provide an easy list of qualifying games.

What are the prizes?
All players who meet or exceed the minimum number of required points for the month will earn a Challenge Achievement Medal. The point requirements change every month as we aim to provide a vast assortment of challenges which includes a varying level of difficulty.
Image

Site Event Medals are awarded to the top three finishers on the challenge scoreboard.
1st: Image
2nd: Image
3rd: Image

In addition to the medals, the first place finisher receives: 1 Green Conquer Star
Image
And the 2nd-5th place finishers receive: 1 Blue Conquer Star
Image

In addition to the above prizes, all those who meet the challenge goal will also receive entry tickets into a special lottery we will be doing for 2022 at the end of the year. Prizes to be announced!
1st place will receive 6 tickets; 2nd place, 5; 3rd place, 4; 4th place, 3; 5th place, 2 and all other who meet the goal will receive 1.

When do I get my prize?
In most cases prizes are awarded during the week following the completion of the event.

How do we deal with deadbeating?
Please report deadbeats in your games by sending a PM to groovysmurf and chanakam2020. We will evaluate the distribution of prizes to a violating player on a case by case basis.

Tiebreakers?
Ties are awarded to the player who reached the point threshold first.

A player has me foed and it is preventing me from joining a lot of challenge games. What can I do?
PM the player in question. Be courteous and non-accusatory, ask why you are foed. Do your best to resolve any issues with the other user in this manner. However, if they decided not to remove you from their foe list then you will need to join games without that player or start your own.

What if I want to run a parallel tournament to the challenge?
Okay, awesome! Individual tournaments can be added to the challenges so that those games drop tokens. Send us a PM and we will get it added for the month. Remember that games that do not complete by the allotted time, will not drop tokens!

Suggestions and Requests
Go here and post if you have any ideas or special requests for future events.

Rulings:
1. Deadbeats will have entry points stripped.
2. Wins by round limit will drop tokens.
3. Inventory relating to the challenge will vanish at the end of the year.
4. Bot games do not drop tokens.
5. Any unforeseen abuse is still abuse. Don't take advantage of the system.

If you have any further questions or issues not covered here please either post in the active challenge thread or PM groovysmurf and chanakam2020.

So why would anyone play a 6 player game when your chances are much lower to win if this is a percentage based contest?

Those 6 players games are Triple Team games. So chance of winning is still 1/2 similar to a poly(3) game.

It allows freemium members to still take part if they wish and also some people just prefer team games.

How does the scoreboard work? Shouldn't Awoodness already have his % with 20 silver and 10 gold?

I actually like this format.

It gives everyone a chance to win, instead of just a couple people willing to play 2000 games in a month.

Only thing I would change if it all possible is that each win token must come against a unique opponent.

Only one win counted per opponent should not be something happening here. If it is, there is likely another coding error. Has this happened to you?

Yes it has, both in the silver and the gold medal.

But it also does not state anything in the rules that it shouldnt.

You've started 15 games (14 CA and 1 AK) and do have 15 silver. You've won 9 games (8 CA and 1 AK) and have 9 gold so I'm not seeing the issue.

Is inviting cooks for ~40 games for this challenge being considered scoreboard manipulation?
Just asking cause i see it happening.

While this is for sure "frowned upon", it is not technically against the event rules, at least as of now. This one is a hard one because California is really not a complicated map and inviting cooks is really not a "sure win".

This is really not something I wish to encourage in future events so I think we may need to add a bit to the rules. I will warn the person in question to not do this anymore, but if you wish this to be looked at further, you must post in C&A. We can only do so much. I know that sounds lame, but unfortunately it is the truth. The ones who accepted the games had free will to accept or decline.

Well i guess it's not the first time that he did something 'dodgy' but not quite against the rules.

This event rules do not specify about how many games a player can play with a certain player & things about players and opponents score/rank etc.
But If you see some thing odd happening and if you think it is against general CC rules you may post a C&A report.

Seeing as you walled me about this a few days ago, I can only assume, you are referring to me

That said, as Chakam2020 pointed out to you -

"This event rules do not specify about how many games a player can play with a certain player & things about players and opponents score/rank etc."

You seemed to understand but had the audacity to mention this -

"Well i guess it's not the first time that he did something 'dodgy' but not quite against the rules."

I can only assume you are referring to last's month's challenge where it was on number of wins, not win percentage. I joined less games than Devante last month but still won by a fair margin. On top of that I won both the 1Vs1 and Poly format for an extra medal in both. Please explain what it is that you are referring to that I did that you feel was "dodgy" as, the only dodgy thing I observed was from your side - joining 100s of games that Devante (your clan mate) invited you to on the last day of February (who is a much weaker player than you are) to help him compete against me by somehow losing way more games against him than you won.

It would be very interesting to compare your win ratio this month to Devante's to prove my point about you being a MUCH better than he is.

In addition, some players generally avoid playing against chefs as if you lose, you lose 100 points at a time and stand to gain only a few if you win, so if anything, this challenge format encourages more play amongst a mixture of ranks which can't be a bad thing as playing against stronger players, helps you to learn the dos and dont's.

I actually enjoyed the game we played this month that counts towards the challenge that I beat you in and hope my clan destroys yours in the current clan war we have ongoing.

No hard feelings anyway - the last day of March was yesterday when you had the chance to do what you did last month and join 100s of games on the last day. These could have been against whoever you wanted of whichever rank you chose and would not have been deemed against the rules, only a little dodgy if they were all against the same clan member, like you did last month!
