Dude, this guy just got stabbed about 50 times, dizembowelled and beheaded while riding a greyhound bus...
This really doesn't have anything to do with greyhound. As much as some like to pretend that it isn't the case, there are people that take pleasure in hurting others and will do so regardless of how it will negatively impact their own life and it is impossible to predict where you will run into these people. In my area there was a huge uproar about how some kid snuck into his "friends" house and stabbed to death the friend, the friend's father and the mother. He said he would have raped and killed the sister too had she not escaped. The reason he gave for doing it was simply because he wanted to know what it feels like to kill another person and he promised the judge that if he ever gets out he'll do it again.
My advice to you is to keep your guns loaded and in your dresser drawer and to not fall asleep next to strangers on the bus. If you're a pacifist and you don't want to listen to me that's your decision but the harsh truth of reality is that you may end up dead if you don't.

I do consider reducing the risk of my death one of many good reasons to own a gun. If you don't believe that self defense is a good reason to bear arms, a constitutional right which is equal to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, then you don't have to own one but you may die because of that decision.Snorri1234 wrote:GabonX wrote:hecter wrote:The Weird One wrote:clapper011 wrote:OMG, i travel greyhound all the time with my youngest!

OH YES BECAUSE SURELY THIS INCIDENT IS REASON ENOUGH TO CARRY A GUN WITH YOU 24/7!
Seriously, if your reason for keeping a gun is psychopaths existing then I feel bad for you.
I also wonder what would happen if that kid sneaking into the house found your loaded firearm in the dresser drawer.

You're a lot more likely to get decapitated while driving a car than by a random psychopath.
However, I also completely understand your reasoning GabonX and sympathize completely with the fear from which it stems. As I was reading the article, I could help but think, "Damn, I gotta get a concealed carry license and a four pounder. Ain't gonna let no trip ass punk catch me slippin."
At the same time though, Snorri makes the better point. You really are more likely to have your own weapon used against you, or invite more trouble (from different sources) than you ever would have without one.
