Should you fire your servant if he speaks to you?

Postby saxitoxin on Wed Apr 04, 2012 3:54 pm

New emails released from Current TV expose that recently discharged host Keith Olbermann fired eight consecutive chauffeurs after they spoke to him.

I think Olbermann crossed the line. Servants respond to a firm, but caring, beating usually. Firing them should be a last resort.

As long as he didn't break the shari'ah, then it's all gravy.

I read he anally brutalized them, then fired them.

When did they start allowing servants to have tongues again?

Whoever is hiring this man's drivers is not explaining the job very well. You would think it would be easier to tell the drivers that they aren't to speak with the dude than to hire a new one every time they decide to strike up a conversation.

What if they didn't speak but did make direct eye contact with Olberman instead of deferentially averting their gaze when he approached? Frankly, I almost think that would be worse than speaking. It's like a challenge of the jungle - an assertion you consider yourself equal/superior to the other person. A servant should NOT treat his Master in that way.

Maybe they turned into stone and "firing" them is just a cover-up?

It would depend on whether they were told not to make eye contact or not.

agreed - it is partly the responsibility of the Master to tell his servant what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior and to provide firm but caring discipline when the servant disobeys
