President Obama’s $1 Million Pizza Party In Detroit!

Some real 1%'ers. What better place than Detroit?

The event is the latest twist in the political relationship between Obama and Ilitch, eldest of the Ilitch’s seven children. Mike and Marian also own the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Fox Theatre, Motor City Casino and more. The family is among the wealthiest and most influential in Michigan with an empire worth billions.

It's funny, had it been a Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh, had I called any of them a "sanctimonious prick" the very people who criticize me for calling Maddow a hag would be "Right on man!"

Maddow is a media personality and a propagandist. So are Hannity, Limbaugh and the rest of their ilk. Believe me, Maddow's heard a lot worse than "hag" I'd bet.
"But patches, you can't talk about a woman like that!" Screw that, equal opportunity disdain for propagandists from me. The side of the aisle matters little to me in my criticism. Nor does gender protect a propagandist from criticism.

Political Correctness = hypocrisy

The day any of them act like actual unbiased journalists instead of pushing agendas is the day I'll give them props.

Hag fits her well as a hag is a shape shifting spirit that tortures people with nightmares. It also means a wizened old woman. Hags liked to frighten children much in the same way that Maddow likes to frighten liberals about evil republicans coming to toss grandma off the cliff and such partisan nonsense.

At least in this case she seems to have stumbled onto something and I find equal disdain for the shenanigans her report covered. But instead of just reporting the simple facts which were quite enough on their own, Maddow being the hag she is, has no choice but to offer up her own opine as to the vile nature of the evil republicans as if the Democrats are some sort of noble alternative.

Hag she is, hag she will always be and it makes no difference. But that crap the Michigan legislature is pulling is real BS as I quite well stated after suffering through the hag's vitriolic pontification.

So, blast me if you wish but at the very least I am a more honest person than those who find indignation in my comments while prattling on the same about people opposite their own ideology. My ideology is for the rule of law that transcends propagandists and celebrity of self absorbed sycophants who labor to divide the citizens over things that are irrelevant while sweeping under the rug the sins and misdeeds of their own side's political masters.

I gathered that the main point of the above string of jokes was to highlight that you shouldn't resort to ad hominem attacks.

That is a significant portion of the complaint, yes. But patches is correct in that I was calling him out on his misogyny as well. I can't speak for the others, of course, but "hag" represents one of the two classic anti-women sentiments, rejection as a sexual object (the other being slut-shaming). While patches nearly got mansplaining bonus points by falling back on the folklore upon which the word is etymologically based, he promptly lost them when I noticed he basically just copypastaed Wikipedia.

Because of this lazy attempt at crisis management, I'm forced to conclude that patches originally intended the term as the current most common connotation for this time period as an old, usually ugly woman. Even if we give patches the benefit of the doubt and allowed him knowledge of the more archaic denotation of "hag," the fact that he very likely also recognized the modern connotation, and used it precisely for that reason (perhaps even patting himself on the back for finding himself so punny) raises the same issue.

So, we find ourselves, once again, in the situation where a woman is being insulted due to her gender or sexuality. MSAs and racists and children might complain here that I'm being too PC. For some reason, they think insulting someone with a slur based on who they are rather than what they say is not a bad thing. I don't know what to tell you about that. Regarding hypocrisy, "prick" probably isn't the best word to use, but within the context of privilege and repression, Beck and Limbaugh aren't facing a millennia of suppression because they have a penis. It's a less sensitive issue, but I still prefer words like "asshole" and "inept" to "prick." It is only fair, I suppose.

Anyhow, what this all ends up boiling down to is that Maddow, despite being a better journalist than Beck, or Olbermann for that matter, can be reduced to a shrewish harpy because they aren't inclined to wag their penises at her (a particular of that situation that I'm sure she appreciates). Sure, she's very left leaning. It happens. But if you had solely criticized her politics (or even your fallback of constant agitprop) you could have slid out of this just fine. Now you just end up on my list of women-haters. Nice work, patches!

I have not been able to read all the posts in here yet but am looking forward to it. I liked Governor John Engler. Not a fan of Snyder or Granholm

Whooo hooo! Send my award via mail but I regret to inform you that I shall be unable to attend the award ceremony. I'll be marching that day for the repeal of the 19th amendment.
