lol, when did you become an atheist john? That's almost a direct quote from our secret "Things to bleat at Christians when we are frustrated" handbook.

- being a liberal has nothing to do with anything. i think church and state should be totally separate. there ARE patterns in modern liberal thought that lead to militant atheism, though.
- i'm not arguing from a christian point of view. when have i EVER used the bible or any other religious doctrine to support my opinions?
- i think the god hypothesis is a scientific question and that we can "know" about it.
- i criticize atheists more than theists because atheists in general are more intolerant, jump to more conclusions, have less evidence for their beliefs, and support the elimination of an ideology that i believe is beneficial for society. i rarely criticize theists because they are (usually) more tolerant, rarely resort to petty insults, and acknowledge that their belief is ACTUALLY A BELIEF and not the "default position". it's that simple.
Your first two points relate to parts of my post wherein I was being facetious. They are irrelevant. Your third point is gobbledygook (to quote a friend of a friend, "I don't want to get involved in that tomfoolery"), and your fourth point is wishful thinking. It's fair to say there are more tolerant Christians within the context of there being a shit-ton of Christians. Let's be fair, the proportion of asshole atheists to wimpy atheists is probably the same as the proportion of asshole Christians to wimpy Christians.
