What they say about it
Occupy Unmasked portrays the Occupy protesters as anarchists and likens them to drug addicts, villains, rapists, criminals – all living like dirty rats in a sewer. This isn’t the truth at all. The reality is that most of the people at Occupy take showers and do have jobs. This writer knows because he was at Zucotti Park speaking to union workers, teachers, and other ninety-nine per centers - regular Americans that are exasperated and fed up at the economic inequality that grips this country. The large majority of ninety-nine per centers do not want violence and anarchy. What they want are policy changes like higher taxes on the wealthy, re-imposition of Glass-Steagall, accountability on Wall Street, and money out of politics. They want to stop the decimation of the middle class and a more level playing field for all Americans to prosper.
Of course there were the hipsters, Che Guevara t-shirt college kids, and even some angry and violent types but they were the minority and clearly cherry-picked for this production in the hopes of pinning a violence label on Occupy. When you are talking about a nationwide movement of tens of thousands of participants, in cities throughout the country, you can expect to have some bad apples.
This writer has no intention of seeing this film, because it’s a joke - nothing more than a ridiculous biased piece of propaganda that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. In today’s very partisan political environment, one really has to be aware of the media they watch and who’s behind it. Only then will you know your chain is being jerked.
