Is it not so crazy to believe that both sides have something to learn from each other? one side does not hold all the answers, not every ideological solution to every problem. There is value in every perspective. America is something great. Something amazing, but to be "American" encompasses so many different points of view that you can not define it from a single political ideology. I submit that the the greatest threat to America is the belief that there is only one way to be "American".

Of course both sides can learn from each other. But that won't happen until we first have good and honest politicians. We aren't anywhere close to that.

America has principles and values that we were founded on. There is only one set of values, but that is not saying there is only one way to be American.

These are some of America's most basic values.

This! Plus the fact that a portion of Americans who do want to be informed are influenced by the fascist media.

not to mention, a large majority of Americans who spend all their time studying sport statistics and only worry is which bar to get shit faced at, and when it comes time to vote, they show up and say "this one sounds good".

I think there are less people who wish to be informed than there are those who are more than happy to brag about how uninformed they are, most of the time without even knowing it!
