Rationally, do you think any of us has a point? Or have we all reached the same conclusion coincidentally? It might be a problem with you.

Except there's nothing I'm afraid of. I'm not afraid of homosexuals: I disagree with their lifestyle. Homosexual relationships are choices and society does not have to be forced to recognize it as marriage.

You're irrationally afraid of gay marriage. You oppose it for irrational reasons. If your opposition is that you're worried about the offspring, I don't think you ever had a rational take on homosexuality, let alone why it's right or wrong for gay people to marry.

I'm just saying that people go back and forth on whether certain policies are good or necessary policies, not on their moral positions. Especially when the side he picks for that moral stance depends on which office he is running for and when.

Honestly you've never changed moral positions? That's scary, although it would explain a lot..

More than two thirds of Americans believe President Obama's public endorsement of gay marriage was motivated by politics, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll.

A total of 67 percent overall said it was a political maneuver. Only 24 percent said they thought he did it "because he thought it was the right thing to do," CBS News reported.

That's too bad, you really hate to see such an elaborately staged theatrical production get bad reviews. I thought the "Biden switch prompted Obama" plotline was really well crafted. Masterful storytelling by the Madison Avenue consultants. I'll be interested to see Part 4 in 2016 where he goes back to saying gays should burn in the hellfire of Hades and have scarlet Gs branded across their chests.

Disturbing, do one third of Americans think that the top politician in the country doesn't behave politically?

One third of US-Americans - including some in this thread - believe acting in one's self-interest is an act of courage or exhibition of morality.

Act of Courage: Taking a political stand when you know it will decrease your physical safety and/or personal wealth. (e.g. Che Guevera)

Act of Cowardice: Taking a political stand because you know it will increase your physical safety and/or personal wealth. (e.g. Barack Obama)
The problems with acts of cowardice is that the cowards will just as happily switch back to the other position once it becomes more profitable (see: Obama on Same-Sex Marriage 2004, 2008, 2012 / Romney on Obamacare 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012).

i'm kind of cynical and hope that the politicians I vote for are good at politics. i like that he's right, of course, not why he's politically right.

Q: Which of the following do you prefer?

a. to be brutally raped
b. to be raped but enjoy it
c. not to be raped

That's fine if you choose "B", but can you empathize with the decision of those who prefer option "C"? Your rape fantasy is your rape fantasy. It seems unreasonable to expect others to share it.

NS is. I think we've concluded this years ago in about 1000 other threads. Why not just ignore him? Do some people require a verbal punching bag to release their pent-up angst?
