What's your favorite logical fallacy?

Postby Crazyirishman on Fri May 18, 2012 7:26 pm

My personal favorites are a Catch-22 and False Dilemma (which I intentionally use in daily life but nobody ever calls me on it), what are your favorite logical fallacies?

I love it when other people use Straw Men and Red Herrings...it's great to explain it to them and watch them be flustered as you crumble down their entire argument with one good kick.

My favourite fallacy is assuming that humans are rational beings capable of logical thought processes. Not quite what you were looking for...

I like non sequitor, for the use in humor.

I want to know, because if that is a red herring, It's not my favorite.

To be fair, he DOES have a Muslim name.

My favourite fallacy is the false assumption of people behaving rationally. The field of economics kind of falls to pieces once you realize that people do not tend to behave in their own best, rational interests.

my favorite (and it has a name, I just can't be bothered to look it up right now) is, these people say "blah blah blah", those people say "wah wah wah". Therefore the truth must lie somewhere in the middle.
