Video Games: Remastered

Postby rdsrds2120 on Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:45 pm

I whipped out my PS1 the other day, sat down, and played some good ole' Metal Gear Solid and Legend of Dragoon. While playing MGS, I realized how many times it had been remade, but LoD kind of just stopped. Later on that day, I was discussing with a friend how awesome it would be if Sony could do a remaster of the game, even if only to release it on the PSN.

Any old games you'd love to have remastered?

Syphon Filter. That game was awesome back in the day.

And probably also Twisted Metal. Or I guess they could just make a new one. That was fun.

I also wouldn't mind Final Fantasy Tactics being remastered. I know they did it for the PSP, but I don't have one of those anymore.

Morrowind would be pretty cool to have remastered. It would be especially cool if they included some of the most popular user-made mods in the game.

M.A.X. is an old DOS game that is my absolute favorite game of all time. I'd love to see it come back.

Speedball 2.

Infact remake the entire bitmap brothers back catalogue.

Oh and cannon fodder (they did make a remastered one but it was some terrible russian job :().

Baldur's Gate. After playing Baldur's Gate 2, which is perfect as it is unless you want to update the graphics, the original seems painfully slow.

Monkey Island 1 and 2 got remastered. Maybe some other old Lucas Arts point and click games; like Sam & Max Hit the Road.

If you're interested Good Old Games have a slightly remastered version of Beneath a Steel Sky for free if you make an account with them (no purchase necessary).

The remastering is just to get it to run on newer systems- don't expect any changes in graphics or gameplay.

Still, if you want to play one of the old classics for free, and perfectly legally:

Really? I enjoyed the original FAR more than the buggy, buggy BG2.

It's difficult. Part of the lore of old video games is the simplicity and bad graphics. I couldn't care less if someone handed me the new Goldeneye game, I would still rather whip out my N64 and play it on there.

I'm not asking for a recall of the old ones, but especially games that had a higher number of cutscenes or stupid glitches could probably use them.

I liked the first one a lot, but after playing 2, yeah, it was slow,

I have M.A.X. on CD-Rom, it worked on my old '90's computer that I discarded but sadly can't get it to work on my new computer. Great game indeed.
