Baptist Church In Mississippi Being Persecuted!

Postby pimpdave on Fri Aug 17, 2012 7:10 am

The Baptist Church, the largest organization to enforce their religious belief of holding slaves in the South of the United States of America for almost 300 years, is once again being persecuted for their beliefs!

Why must the public be so vicious and cruel and persecute the Baptist Church for merely practicing their religion and banning black people from getting married? I personally think black people should have all the same rights as white people, but I also know that it is WRONG to criticize any christian religion for what they do as that is persecution and some half-wit might get really upset and try to get me banned over it!

CRYSTAL SPRINGS, MS (WLBT) -

It was to be their big day, but a Jackson couple says the church where they were planning to wed turned them away because of their race.

Now, the couple wants answers, and the church's pastor is questioning the mindset of some of members of his congregation who caused the problem in the first place.

They had set the date and printed and mailed out all the invitations, but the day before wedding bells were to ring for Charles and Te'Andrea Wilson, they say they got some bad news from the pastor.

"The church congregation had decided no black could be married at that church, and that if he went on to marry her, then they would vote him out the church," said Charles Wilson.

But Juan these handful of bigots don't represent the whole church don't you know.In b4 some apologist tries to distance themselves from this. What a pity they don't expend 10% of the energy they do berating godless atheists on the nutters in their midst..

Surely a godly man of principle would have taken a stand against these nutters even if he was voted out of the church?

Seems to me it wasnt the pastor or anyone in religious authority who decided it, he was quite happy to marry them, his racist congregation were the ones that stopped it.

So I wouldn't necessarily count this as an attack on the church, but on some bigoted people who happen to go to that church. If the church has not been actively preaching racial segregation (and why would it do that then agree to marry them), then it's as much or more a cultural problem than anything to do with religion (even if the racist congregation try and use religious excuses for their bigotry)

Yes because we're not allowed to persecute religion based on nutters in their midst, but it's a damn shame we don't persecute atheists based on the nutters in theirs! Double standards much?

And a principled church would expel the racist congregation and marry the black couple in their church, but that would involve something rarely seen in cases like this,Christians behaving in a Christ like manner.

There are no double standards, but only the True Standard, with which the godless heathens shall be damned for all eternity!!!!*

But he says "the congregation would vote me out". Doesn't that imply the power is with them and not him as to who ends up leaving?

What if I really, really honestly and sincerely want to believe in God, but I just find I am unable to, how am I dealt with then?

Dead people can't disagree, and people without tongues and limbs incur a great cost in communicating; therefore...

In my experience debating theists they mostly hold that we choose what we believe,I contend that is absurd. You believe what you believe because you think it is true or not, there is no choice involved.
