But another user on the site recognized the girl and vowed to turn the man in.
"I know that girl, and I know which teacher you are. I hope you're looking forward to getting fired, you creepy asshole," user "its_comin_up" wrote in the comments of the offending post last Wednesday.

Oh, so you're on a sub-forum called "creep shots" yet THIS creeps you out because you know the girl. Fucking stupid.
reddit sucks.

I'm a Redditor, but I haven't seen this bickering. It seems like a strange argument to me. I tend to think those who are taking/posting the pictures of someone unaware are rather creepy, though.

Ok, I'm starting to look into this more. I don't like the fact that the Redditor in question was "outed", though I haven't yet even figured out how that happened. So if it was due more to him "outing himself" and Gawker simply putting the information together for an article, well then that's his own damn fault.
Aside from that, yes...free speech is free speech. By the same token, our freedoms are not unlimited and there are repercussions to our actions even when they legitimately fall within the bounds of free speech. This seems like a perfect example of one of those situations.

Yes and no. I do understand the point you're making and there is some truth to it, but in this specific case, the primary reason that Reddit itself will wind up responding to these things is because they will be tied to illegal purposes (which is what happened when r/jailbait was tied to underage porn pictures), which can only happen due to government intervention (or the laws would not exist). Reddit even tried to defend that for a while before recognizing that it was a battle that it had no chance of winning from a legal perspective.

I don't know enough about Reddit to comment intelligently about the issue. But I find it refreshing that a website is trying to out the people posting creepy pictures to embarrass them.
