Comparing Modern Presidents/Candidates with ones in the past

Postby muy_thaiguy on Tue Nov 06, 2012 11:16 pm

We will be comparing the accomplishments of the present President and Presidential candidate to a couple form the past.

2012-We have;

Mitt Romney (Republican) and Barak Obama (Democrat)

Accomplishments-
Mitt Romney-
Revived Masachusettes' economy (also shipped thousands of jobs to China)
Elected to Governor.
Became GOP Presidential Candidate.

Barack Obama-
Helped revive the auto industry (at the cost of trillions of dollars)
Pulled out of Iraq (currently going right back to where they were)
Part of the Illinois Government.
Became President of the US,

*Note-Obama is not credited with eliminating Bin Laden, that goes to Seal Team 6.

Now to compare them to past counterparts.

Teddy Roosevelt (Republican)-
26th President of the United States of America
Served in office from 1901-1909
Governor of New York
Passed the Cherman Anti-Trust Act to maintain economic liberty
Began construction of the Panama Canal
Colonel of the Rough Riders and led them into combat during the Spanish-American War.
Signed the Bill to create National Parks (Yellowstone being one of the most famous)
Created laws forcing food companies to have standards for food quality
Was shot while giving a speech, kept going until he lost too much blood, and then was rushed to the hospital.
Graduated from Harvard University

Franklin D. Roosevelt (Democrat)-
32nd President of the United States
Served in office from 1933-1945 (longest by any President and only President to serve more than 2 terms)
Along with Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill, helped bring down Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in WWII.
Actually tried to create jobs for people during the Great Depression.
Despite a paralytic illness, was successfully elected and re-elect (3 times) for Presidency.
Initiated Acts that greatly helped the minority groups of the US, including Catholics, Blacks, Native Americans, and Chinese Americans.
"Eh, whatever."

Is this the first presidential election where neither candidate served in the military?
