You’ll have to define what “lots of eyes” means.
You can’t claim a fly with two eyes has “lots of eyes” because they can see better.

most spider have 8 eyes... it's mostly irrelevant to the thesis though, consensus estimates state 70-80% of life on earth is underwater, and fish don't have legs.

Octopus, squids, crustaceans, etc…. all these underwater creatures have legs.

Insect

It hardly comes as a surprise that ants are the most numerous insect in the world. According to The National Geographic Society and The Royal Entomological Society...There are 1.4 billion bugs per person on the earth.

Never seen any estimate of number of sea critters....

Yeah, I'll agree with legs.

Very few creatures have more than six eyes and many have only two, whereas insects have six legs, arachnids have eight, most sea crustaceans have 10, and there a many worms with dozens of legs.

This estimates…

3.5 Trillion fish in our oceans

Now with insects no one knows how many insects but… ants alone are at least 10 Trillion…. when count other insects then insects are so numerous as to make the other animal families irrelevant in arguing this case.

Amphibians, birds, mammals, and “other” are all also so small in number (relative to insects) as to not really impact the answer.
This hurts my case as amphibians, birds, and mammals would have way more legs than eyes.

So really we just need to decided if insects have more legs or eyes.

Yeah some insects have a bunch of eyes… but many insects have a bunch of legs.

So if we can’t agree on what an “eye” is…

I submit that for an eye to be an “eye” it must be a singular organ that is physically separate from other “eyes”.
So, as described by your post, a “fly has 2 eyes”. The “simple eyes” that are subsets of the main eyes are not distinct organs.
