I called the number too, but when I told them I was Catholic the people started angrily shouting at me in Arabic and something about a jihad on my family or something. Either that or they wanted to give my entire family a massage, it was hard to tell since I heard some AK-47s go off in the background.

That wasn't Arabic. No international dialing code on that number.

-Incomprehensible language?
-Hatred of Catholics
-Gun shots?
-Weird, out of context use of the word jihad.

You called the deep south, my friend.

I know the difference between a shotgun and an AK-47. It was the gun that gave it away, as up to that point, I couldn't make heads or tails of what they were saying.

Ah- I have to confess that automatic gun fire sounds much the same to me. I was unaware that shotguns were the only weapon available down south. Still, where do you think you called without an international dialing code?

The recording says to "push 1, to continue). This is considered permission to divert you to a foreign exchange.
(seriously, this DOES happen... and is why sometimes even dialing an 800 number can get you a hefty phone bill).

Shotguns are not automatic weapons.

Heh, they aren't indeed. I was a bit concerned when you suggested that you "knew the difference between a shotgun and an AK-47". Good that you know the difference. Odd that you think I suggested that you think I said that shotguns are automatic.

To be honest, I don't think you hear well at all.

[edit] Nasty mess you left in the editing. Better to start again, and have people look back to see if I said what you want me to have said.

You've been watching too much Jerry Springer. I live in Louisiana and 90% of the state is Catholic.

"Incomprehensible language"? Most Americans would have trouble understanding a Brit on the telephone.

"Gun shots?" Evidently you've never been to Los Angeles.

I saw an article the other day about a collection of confiscated weapons and included an automatic shotgun with one of those round Tomy Gun like cartridge holders ... boy was that cool looking (in an antique sort of way).

tzor, looks fun but if they're like the ones I've seen they're semi auto which is one shot per time you pull the trigger. Still, bam bam bam bam bam. Made for some nice big holes in things.

It's interesting how to see how the extremes tend to be similars. NRA ultra catholic soporter is not too different that a Jihad Al qaeda supporter. And religion is the common background.

actually, louisiana is only 32.4% catholic. several states - conn., mass., and n.y. - have more, and there are several that are within a couple of percentage points, like il. and wisc.

The shotgun/AK/fully automatic shotgun debate: You guys are being retarded. What a bunch of noise over nothing.

What is the AA-22 Assault Shotgun? Look at 0:42. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siOEEOTjGqM&feature=related

It is interesting how similar it is. I bet you many people that have read it were fully agreeing until OH oops! Al-Qaeda, yeah...

Actually, it depends on where you live. I cannot find post-Katrina stats, but the coastal areas from Mobile over through Lousiana tend to be heavily Roman Catholic (Jackson County Mississippi had 75% Roman Catholic population prior to Katrina, for example). That's why Mardis Gras is celebrated all along the coast.

Your "right" to not pay for your insurance ends when I am forced to use MY money to pay for YOUR care. I am. And, doing away with that obligation is not an answer because having people not get care means more diseases spreading, etc.

NO ONE can understand south Louisiana.. big fail.

Hatred of Roman Catholics -- well, when I was in Mississippi, I was told that KKK stands for "Kikes, Kinks and Katholics". That said, along the coast there areas are heavily Roman Catholic, even in Mississippi. The percentage in south Louisiana is much higher.
