Labour Party Gave Rupert Murdoch Veto on Laws

Postby saxitoxin on Tue May 29, 2012 3:22 pm

The former "Labour Party" government of the UK had agreed to give Australian-American businessman Rupert Murdoch a veto over new laws on certain subjects, such as Europe, according to a special advisor to former "Labour Party" leader Tony Blair.

It is assumed the next Prime Minister, Edward Samuel Miliband - a Belgian immigrant who was laid-off from his job as a radio DJ - will extend similar privileges to Mr. Murdoch.

In related news, about half of Britons believe the UK is "worse off" in 2012 than it was in 1952, when incumbent chief of state Elizabeth began her 100-year term in office.

An ITV News/ComRes poll found that 47 percent of those surveyed thought that Britain was not as good a place as before her reign ...

I notice that you nicely skipped from Blair to Miliband, ignoring Brown (Labour leader and prime minister who failed to get elected who Murdoch did not support) and Cameron (Conservative leader who Murdoch did support). Murdoch has rather coincidentally supported the winner of all general elections for a long time. Even in Scotland he has supported the SNP who are in government.

It is unclear whether he simply supports the likely winners of each election in order to award himself influence or whether he actually directly impacts the results of each election. I think it doesn't really matter, what is clear is that his influence is way too strong in Britain and that the Leveson inquiry needs to hit out with some strong verdicts.

p.s. Your last point just shows how stupid the people polled were.

There's not enough room in the thread to include every minor civil servant, backbencher MP or one-term Prime Minister. I included relevant players.

No you picked out the only two Labour prime minister candidates who he has backed. By not showing that he supported Thatcher or Cameron you make it look like he is a Labour man when in actual fact he is a supporter of whichever one of the major parties is in power. Your thread is entitled "Labour Party Give Rupert Murdoch Veto on Laws" which suggests this is a Labour only problem but it clearly goes much deeper than that.

Also as a side note: when people like yourself and BBS support libertarianism this is who you really support in practice.

The thread title "Labour Party Give Rupert Murdoch Veto on Laws" is objectively correct.

However, you certainly have a right to claim my post is part of a sweeping conspiracy to discredit Labour which you've unearthed, possibly involving the Loch Ness Monster, Area 51 and the ghost of John Lennon.

pmchugh wrote:Also as a side note: when people like yourself and BBS support libertarianism this is who you really support in practice.

I'm unaware where or when I "support libertarianism." I've stated repeatedly I'm a communist and have even posted a scan of my membership book.

Lol, it is common knowledge that Murdoch supported Thatcher, Blair, Cameroon and Salmond but not Gordon Brown. The Leveson enquiry is also making it common knowledge that Murdoch had too much influence in politics.

What is this so called conspiracy I have "unearthed"?

Word. I wonder why Saxi hasn't made a thread about the latest scandal involving Hunt, Cameron and the BSkyB bid, the one which is currently rocking the current Government, known more formally as the Coalition of Liars.

In other words this ... ?

You cryptically and dramatically declared "IT CLEARLY GOES MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT!!!!" ... did Gordon Brown know the identity of the second gunman in the JFK assassination or something?

Because that's not a topic of interest to me. I'm only interested in discussing neo-cons who guilefully pretend to be socialists to con the gullible, not neo-cons who declare themselves to be neo-cons. Others are free to start threads on those topics, however.

In the words of Sheikh Abd al-Wahid Yahya, "there are two kinds of people in the west: the gullible and the guileful."

Yes, so you do have an agenda. It is not simply exposing the truth in general, but instead exposing the truth when it comes to people who are more left of centre.. though Blair brought the Labour Party more to the right than it had ever been before. There is more than enough scandal within the Coalition of Liars if you were interested in corruption in British politics in general.

correct

As long as Labour is viewed as a legitimate voice of the left it sucks votes from parties like Respect.

I'm not. Excitedly declaring that wolves are acting like wolves are supposed to act is the job of zoologists and retarded 3 year olds.

One past opinion poll found that the majority of US citizens do not believe that 9/11 was carried out by Islamic terrorists. Some 15% believe it was their own government and 7% think it was Israel.

Opinion polls belong in a river.

Mexican food gives pcmhugh diarrhea but he loves Taco Bell TV ads so he eats there every day for lunch. A salad restaurant opened up next door to the Taco Bell. Not only does he not go to eat at the salad bar, he stabs the owner in the eye and then burns the place to the ground ... then has two Cheesy Fiesta Burritos (and spends the next 3 hours on the toilet).

All in all, the typical Labour supporter.

Conservative Party - a party for conservatives
Liberal Democrats - a party for conservatives who feel guilty about being conservative
Labour Party - a party for conservatives who stumbled into the wrong line at the sign-up booth
