My views on homosexuals

Just a short topic here. I have no problems with homosexuals at all. However considering i am a Anglican, i don't believe gay people should have any part in church ruling though i do not mind any gay people in the church at all, i do not like gay people flaunting their' homosexuality. Because it is wrong to be gay in christianity i am trying to be as leniant as my religion takes me.

I will post my views as me as a christian soon, but i wanted to get this done first.

I can see what you mean from the kids point of view -he'll prob get bullied etc cos his mum's "different" "weird" etc. But its up to people like you, who are intelligent, to take a lead, make a stand, and say to that kid "Yeah, you're one of us, no worries" (or something less cringe worthy -you have to remember I'm an old fart who still thinks Space Invaders is the last word in cool )
But Will, if you can't celebrate who you are with happiness, then something is wrong.

ps I appreciate its difficult to do what i said, cos you might get bullied etc -but the way to start is to be rational, think it through, and get comfortable with the idea that some people are " different" -thats how it has always been, and thank Random Chance for that.

The kid was in grade 1. His peers are too young to know what that means so I guess he's not bullied.

I don't know. For some people I guess the acceptance is pretty natural. Being gay should be okay, but sometimes the environment is so against it it's very hard to admit anything.

At the same time, however, I do not think it is unreasonable for a heterosexual male to be made to feel uncomfortable by an individual homosexual. The same way no one blinks if a woman feels uncomfortable around an individual heterosexual man, there are times when an individual homosexual can make a situation uncomfortable for a heterosexual man through unwanted advances.

So it is important for homosexuals to not be too aggressive, the same way it is important for a heterosexual male to "play it cool" with the ladies, and not use a blanket statement of "That guy's homophobic!" to explain why his advances were refused or made the receiving party uncomfortable.

Yes, it's the loud happy gays you need to watch out for. The quiet miserable ones tend to be OK - at least you know they're suffering.

By quiet I don't mean secret life. It's ok for the homosexual to tell the people he wants but they shouldn't broadcast it. The world isn't ready for homosexuals, and where I live the prejudice against them is pretty bad.

This will sound weird, but I figure gay men are like women that you're not attracted to. You can be friends with them, but it would be awkward if they're attracted to you.

Anyway, I've heard differing views on what religion has to say about them. At my catholic school, I heard that since they should never marry, they are supposed to either live single for life, or become a priest and live their life for God. That's right, gays are supposed to become priests, because Catholic priests aren't supposed to marry.
