I'm sure the US took back a ton of intel from his compound. Any writings, laptops-we got something.

2 shots to the head then dumping him in the ocean is perfect.

Please tell me you are joking...

No. More problems taking him alive than dead.

I thought you were joking talking about the grand conspiracy pulling Osama's strings.

Agreed.

I puke a little in my mouth when I see flag-waving chest-thumpers praising the extrajudicial killing of an old senile man without really solving the source of the problem.

Since he's dead, now we will never learn who was behind him: who was supporting and sponsoring him, who was protecting him (besides the obvious Paki's), was he just a small pawn in a big game. US government got 0 intel from this - all this extremely valuable information lost just because some idiots decide that it's better to kill him. All of this most likely will just lead him becoming a martyr...

Does anyone truly expect this to have any positive practical results? If anything, expect a new wave of terrorism suddenly bursting out. Well done, well done =D>

I don't think so, Tim.jpg

As MeDeFe stated previously, OBL knew a lot of dirty secrets of the US, and I reasonably assume that the US intelligence community knew enough about Osama's role that it wasn't worth taking the unnecessary risk of extracting information from him (assuming that what OBL knew wasn't already known or is only known to OBL himself). There are other people and other methods for that same purpose.

Just to clarify for everyone. We dumped his body in the ocean because if he becomes a zombie terrorist... shit's gonna get ugly real fast.

Who will say, that American will be so gentle with Osama, to be burried with muslim tradition, its more look like propaganda. Its so strange, that nobody from big news houses, dont get permision to picture these, and like hepend with Ce Gueara, where you had pictures from these incident, here you need to hide all evidence from Osama liquidation( i doubt that they fight) from world. You finaly achive something, and if you want to people belive, you hide evidence?
Its funny, that Pakistan army not aware of US intervention.

From what I've read, Pakistan's military and their ISI don't get along very well.

I don't know how his supporters will react, so I can't give an opinion on killing him, but the burial at sea was brilliant. presided over by a muslim cleric, so the Muslims won't be upset at an "improper" burial, he's now at the bottom of the ocean, so there will be no attempt to retrieve his body, and, the ocean being one massive unmarked grave of history, his burial site will not become a new pilgrimage site. At least they got that right. And still, better he be dead than alive, IMHO.

Muslim shaman's(shamen?) won't be able to find his body moving with the tide/being eaten by various sea life, he is unable to be resurrected. That's the key point.

They won't need to, they simply cast the spell on the entire ocean, zombiefying every animal in it that has eaten even a single molecule of Osama's body. Consequently, Osama becomes a hivemind that controls the animals directly.

Osama bin Laden didn't lose his heart to a woman and the ocean (don't quite remember the bullshit story behind it from the movie). OBL lost his heart to the badass special forces guy that ripped it out of his chest with his bare hands.

Please tell me you are joking...

See my previous post... had Obama been captured, it would have spurred suicide attacks, requires tons of money to secure him and there is always the (admittedly remote in this case) chance he would somehow go free.

Further, the chance of making him a martyr would be even greater.

He had already been tried and convicted of the first bombing, etc. He was buried with full Islamic rites, such as we give any criminal in this country, to show this was about him and not the religion (among other issues).

1. I said aside from the obvious ones. You really think it was just the Pakistan government?
2. This is debatable, but I would say he had. Furthermore, he could have given us the information about the initial attacks and information on USA government - something that obviously could hurt them.

I don't agree with any of the answers above, except if you think there was any chance of learning anything from Obama.. you are dreaming. We did capture some other individuals close to Obama who might possibly give out information, but the truth is that if we don't already know who backed Obama, then our intelligence folks are truly dropping the ball.

This is generally true. However, I shed no tears for someone who admitted masterminding the killing of thousands of people from many countries. No, it won't solve things. You are correct. However, letting folks like this go don't solve things, either.

Around the world people celebrate Obama's victory over Osama. (These are flames of joy, BTW.) I wonder if Obama will be making his globe-trotting adventures to Berlin etc. during the 2012 campaign like in 2008 so a bunch of fat, drunk Germans can stumble around Pariser Platz again? I'm guessing they'll have sobered up by '12 now that they see the wolf for what he is -

I don't agree with all our wars, but to claim they are identical to Obama's actions is to claim he had justification for what he did.

That is, in fact, my whole problem with calling this a terrorist "war". They are international criminals, nothing more, and don't deserve the title of "soldier".

I didn't make such a claim. I'm just applying your logic.

If you wish to talk about such justifications, then everyone has a justification for what they did. It just depends on how reasonable that justification is, and about comparing that justification with any possible alternatives to conflict resolution (hint: there are no alternatives with resolving a conflict against an aggressive government which dominates the UN and can even act beyond its orders).

They don't have the title of "soldier". They are enemy combatants. They aren't criminals. They are at war with our nation, but since they do not belong to a nation of their own, they are not soldiers.

LOL this is hilarious. One thing you'll never hear the White House say when there are no witnesses ...

"... and a woman who was brutally killed by US-SF for the hell of it"

Anyone killed who who might cause a down-tick in opinion polls was always "being used as a shield."

But, most westerners are dumb enough to believe this B.S. (see string of posts above) ... just like the body quickly dumped in the ocean in the middle of the night and the mansion, where all remaining physical evidence might reside, catching fire and burning to the ground within 15 minutes after the raid.
