Biden could have provided housing for 150 homeless battered women for one year with the amount of money he's spent entertaining himself by shooting down hot air balloons this week.

Meanwhile, Republicans propose cutting all spending to homeless battered women, and increase budget for hot air ballon defense by 5 billion annually.

That's the storyline from the 2010s. In 2023, the only people who want to keep spending on America's international murder program are the Rats. The GOP is calling for a modicum of moderation (but still not enough) in America's unhinged campaign of global terror and violence, to the chagrin of the bloodthirsty Rats.

A group of corporate Democrats led by Rep. Jared Golden of Maine sent a letter Wednesday defending the out-of-control U.S. military budget and expressing concerns about looming attempts by House Republicans to cut it.

In their letter to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Golden, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), and other members of the right-wing Blue Dog Coalition celebrated the bipartisan vote last month to add $45 billion to the latest military budget proposed by President Joe Biden, claiming the extra money is necessary for "the procurement of additional naval ships at a time in which China has developed the world's largest navy" and for "strengthening the defense industrial base."

But the lawmakers voiced alarm over the House GOP majority's expressed support for capping federal outlays across the board at Fiscal Year 2022 levels—a move that would, in theory, cut tens of billions off the military budget.

I ordered the take down of an unidentified object that violated Canadian airspace. @NORADCommand
shot down the object over the Yukon. Canadian and U.S. aircraft were scrambled, and a U.S. F-22 successfully fired at the object.

I spoke with President Biden this afternoon. Canadian Forces will now recover and analyze the wreckage of the object. Thank you to NORAD for keeping the watch over North America.

The company I work for has a couple groups that develop and simulate radar systems. In fact, the group I lead develops algorithms for modeling and simulating various electromagnetic phenomenology, and we have an ongoing effort to predict uncertainty in radar signatures of certain types of objects. There is a lot of noise about multiple balloons entering US airspace during the Trump administration, with Trump officials denying that they heard anything about it. The noise ranges from political attacks, to conspiracy theories, to dereliction of duty. In reality, it's none of those things. The radar systems have discrimination algorithms built into them so that they identify potential threats and ignore things like birds and clouds. It's likely the radar noticed the prior balloons and recorded "something" but had no idea how to classify that something. The one earlier this week was finally properly identified. It's even conceivable that part of the reason it was allowed to traverse so much of the US airspace was to obtain a much larger training dataset for various radar and threat detection systems. And now that the detection systems have a proper identification for that unknown signature, a review of prior detection events highlighted multiple other balloon incursions that are only now correctly identified.

I like this version of the truth! Everything checks out, except the part about 'ignoring' birds. Maybe it's because the gov't already has full GPS tracking of it's birds.
