Howard made a couple of errors in the match against Germany if I recall correctly.

Best keepers are those you can trust game after game of stopping the stoppable and not making errors. Even inconsequential errors get into his teammates' head over time.

Neuer, Conrtouis for me.

But he only gave up one goal which was no fault of his own (no rebound defense and Muller's perfect shot).

Keepers shouldn't deflect the ball there, they're supposed to deflect to the side.

I'm expecting Colombia, Netherlands, France, and Argentina to win.
Was going to go with Germany, but they had scares against Algeria. France always seemed like they were going to win in the end against Nigeria. I don't know, maybe Germany just had a letdown against Algeria, after surviving the Group of Death...

I'd love to see Belgium beat Argentina, and then follow it up by beating Netherlands. And I want Colombia to win it all.

Bollocks.

After france, the 2 teams i have the most sympathy for are colombia and belgium.
I also got to say that I have something for brazil.... The pressure these guys are going through is just incredible. They are emotionally wrecked all the time, and the fact that they are underperforming to what was expected (especially in defense where they have some of the most talented defensive players on the planet that are playing real shit).
I don t know, I can t help but feel sympathy for them, while I m just hating argentina.

It still bothers me that Brazil plays the way they play, being Brazil, so I still dislike them. And of course I dislike Argentina. So my favorites are Colombia, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

Sorry betiko, nothing against the French I told you before the cup started that I liked the group that was pontentially to be in the national team but I've been liking the Germans for some time now.

England's group was the 'group of death'. It had three top ten teams, which is crazy when the top eight are seeded. Uruguay 8th, Italy 9th and England 10th.

I'd like to see Colombia, Netherlands, Germany and Belgium go through but I doubt it will happen.

it's not because any of you prefer germany over france that it will have any influence on the result anyway! ;) No one likes the french team but the french, not like I'm not used to it. It's more fun when we win though. :P

I'm always rooting against brazil, but not this time. they have one of the weakest generations I've ever seen and have the challenge of dealing with that for their home world cup.
The country is going to shit, and winning the WC with a mediocre team, in breath taking penalty sessions and such, is cooler than doing it with all the best players in the world. Not knowing who you will have to put on the bench because the whole bench is better than any player in the opposing team is boring.

ah come on! let's say they deserved a tie vs croatia 2-2, a tie vs mexico and a win vs cameroon. They probably deserved to finish second behind the tacos. But saying they shouldn't have qualified out of the group stages isn't honnest. 1/8th of finals vs netherlands, I am really not sure they wouldn't have made it.

Adding up 10 "if"s all favorable to croatia (you really need a lot of imagination to turn a 3-1 into a 1-2), then being certain that the brazil-mexico wouldn't've been influenced by this result?
The way a team play depends on the score at any given time. If you change a ref decision in a game, the rest of the game would not be played the same.

If a game is decided in the last minutes by a ref mistake, ok, you can draw conclusions easily, but the fact of removing 2 goals to a team, adding up one to the opponent and god knows what you decided to count or not throughout the entire game is unrealistic and biaised. There were definitely some ref mistakes and the score shoulndn t ve been 3-1, but it s too easy bb

Not disagreeing with you but one bad decision can be the difference between 2-1 and 1-3 without any problem... especially where goals and red cards are concerned.

And there was 3 'groups of death' not one. Would say the strongest group was Germany's though.

In the category of woulda, coulda, shoulda...
USA vs Belgium should have been 1-0 in regulation,
could have been 0-8 but reality is 1-2 in et.

Well that's different, even the best team in the world need to take some chances to score. It's when the ref interferes that the could've, should've, would've comes in. For example Costa Rica 1-0 up and should have been awarded a clear pen, Greece score in the last minute and always knock them out. No one is talking about it now because Costa Rica went through, just like no one is talking about the fact that the linesman called America chance in the last min offside when it was clearly on but the fact remain that refs wrongly change games and it's something that needs to be changed.

As soon as Blatter leaves the better, game needs challenges.

I have developed a deep contempt for Brazillian people during this world cup that I didn't have before, not their football players, just people from Brazil in general. They are rude and classless, they boo teams for no reason most of the time and when they do boo for a reason it's usually a shitty reason, like the team being from Europe or it being good, being both of those things equals being booed throughout the game regardless of how great the game is. It's like they don't give a shit about watching quality football, they are so petty it's ridicoulus. And when they do cheer for a team other than their own they only cheer on them because they think they are bad and Brazil will have an easy time beating them if they advance. And perhaps worst of all is that when their own team plays they act like little overdramatic toddlers who are blown away when their team doesn't win with 4-0 every game, as if any team has had an easy time during this WC. They don't deserve success, they have a shitty team with the exception of Neymar and they have shitty fans and a shitty culture.

Bah! Don't be too hard on the actions of stadium crowds,
it's a sport that seems to alter people's neuron functions.

Such seriousness over play and results that makes people
forget it's a game and behave as if it were life & death.
Brazilians are good people.

I am looking forward to tomorrow's matchups.

Brazilians are great people and I love their culture. Have you ever been there before judging a whole population by the way fans behave in stadiums gillipig?

PS; david Luiz is the best rated player of the world cup, thiago silva is 7th and neymar was 9th or something.

Why would I want to go to Brazil? Getting mugged is not a hobby of mine. It's one of those countries I've always wanted to stay out of because of the crime factor, but I didn't dislike it's inhabitants until this world cup.
Have you been there? Most people have not been to Brazil and most people will never go there, what most people know about Brazil and how people from Brazil are like is very much influenced by this world cup, my view of them has disimproved, before the world cup my view of them in general would have been favourable, now it's unfavourable, I desperately don't want them to win.

been to brazil couple of times, had great times there,
shit can happen everywhere, maybe i was just lucky,
the last time i went there, our cabdriver drove a wrong way, brought us to a parking lot,
only one car was there and a guys with a big machete leaning against a tree and choping some wood,
the cab stopped, the driver did not say a word,
i looked in the frontmirror , watching the other car (guy) and the cabdriver,
very tense situation, suddenly we heard police coming up the mountain , shortly after a heli
driver starts cab again and on the way back, 2 dead people ( woman and men), rescueteam is there already
and police ..........long story............

but one night in a famous disco close to copa cabana i met this great woman,
and my austrian friend warned me before i was leaving with that woman
he said you will be dead tonight,
i answered
tonight i want to die
..... im still alive, but i will never forget that night
i think this brazilian girl thought i am crazy when we reached the hotel
i was checking every room, balcony and under the bed before she got my full attention
