I know most Americans would like so, but Europeans are I guess more traditional when it comes to Football.

I don't know where I stand right now.. if you had asked me 5 days ago I would've said no.

The argument made by Sepp Blater is that grass roots football can't access the levels of technology that people are wanting to eliminate refereeing mistakes. That's fair enough, but I think that the people it hurts the most, are the supporters that have saved thousands to attend a world cup, only to have their hard earned spunked up the wall because some idiot referee missed a crucial part of the game.

Sepp Blather is talking out of his backside. They dont have the technology at grass roots cricket or rugby. I spend a lot of time at New Road(thats Worcestershire(thats cricket for all you infidels)) and the only time the technology is used is when Sky is broadcasting a game. Thats the county game, not even grass roots. The same at Sixways(*sigh* Worcester Warriors, Rugby Union). They dont seem to have a problem for internationals or high profile games.

The only thing stopping Sepp Blather is the cost. He doesn't like spending money on things that aint going to make a profit.

These are the goals from January to June of Chicharito Hernandez, the forward that Javier Aguirre (coach of Mexico) left in the bench for 3 games and started just once.

I agree with Blatter to a point.

Not every FIFA game everywhere in the world can afford video replay. Hell, some of the US games they play in CONCACAF look like they are being filmed by 15-year-olds.

But what FIFA can do is what the Champions League did: Add goal-line referees. All those refs do is decide corners, goal kicks and goals. They wouldn't be in charge of anything else and they'd have the best views for it.

Oh, and as far as the poll, I'm still holding out hope for that US-England rematch in the finals.

I have faith.

What a tactical massacre so far, the dutch already not so good defense having to get a sub there just before the game was but a foretelling. Sneijder is forced to play as defensive middle, Van Bommel doesn't seem in a good day, Van Persie is missing anything he attempts, and even Robben who was looking like hot shit screwed up the best opportunity they had at the last minute of first half. Meanwhile Brasil is going in effortless and could easily have scored more. Their physical play is at its best here, especially with a quite lenient ref (can't believe they kept this one around ). That said, it's only 1-0, and certainly won't stay at that. Except with a stroke of genius from both coach (putting Elia in right away for instance) and players (Sneijder & Robben can definitely do better, but I'm giving up on Van Persie doing anything) and a hell lot of luck, Holland can't win this, but I hope Robben scores as he's my collateral bet today

Wow. I watched most of the first half and then I tune back in about midway through the second half. Based on the way the teams were playing, I'd think they switched uniforms or something! Brazil was playing excellent football in the first, but they seem to be falling completely apart now.

HAHAHAHAHA
Didn't need that much luck or that much genius, just kept plugging away at it. That could have easily turned into 4-1 by the end, with a few ridiculous opportunities missed. Brazilians looked dangerous on the counter, but the Dutch looked so much more dangerous on a general attack.

They managed to use the entire width, with really good balls to the wing and they really pieced together the passes and worked much better than the brazilians. Though I agree, Van Persie had a pretty shit game.

What a game.
Illy you're missing an important part, they did have luck with the equalizing goal as the starting point was Robben's action and blatant diving that caused the free kick and combination with Sneijder; also Julio Cesar's first mistake pretty much since this started, however not only this event pumped up the dutch like crazy but the brazilians completely imploded, which I would never have expected from such a rigorous team. De Melo's sending off was a symptom of the nervousness that "only equalizer" goal put Brazil through. And I still think Sneijder was awesome in the second half :D
Anyway with all this I lost 5 bucks but I'm really happy it could finally be Holland's turn this year and it's definitely the best game so far for me, after so much energy spent on this game it's good that they could be looking at an "easy" semi final before the big showdown. Now looking for Ghana to make african football history :-$

I'm so pissed off I could burn uruguayan flags right now. Fucking bollocks, Ghana should have won this by a landmile and just for an extra goal if that motherfucking cheater cunt bastard hadn't put his hand in the way. Why should this kind of action warrant the guilty team to have an extra shot at saving it I wonder? Anyway sad truth is if Gyan doesn't score Ghana doesn't win, he wasn't at the top of his game tonight and it's sad he is the one responsible for failing that penalty.
Most unfair game I saw in my lifetime. Seriously, that was nothing like any other penalty shoot sequence. It was like Uruguay bastards had not only one but two shots at a fucking hold up when they produced nothing during play and Ghana dominated them completely, in technique, physique, willpower, fucking everything. Cunts. I hope Holland pwns them big time. And sends them home llorando a su mama, cabron!

Am I the only person who hasn't forgotten that the free-kick leading up the penalty wasn't actually a good decision? The Ghana player fell over off his own accord, yet the Uruguayan player was punished with a foul.
