Wizard of Oz was cute in the way that a pimply child of less than average intelligence with a runny nose can be cute, but that's about the best I can say about it. Technically it's a very well-made movie, but I'll hazard to say that the plot and message were reactionary even for 1939. It simply failed to captivate me.

I used to watch The Usual Suspects, weekly.

Definitely has re-watch value.

La Haine was great. I've seen that about five times, with all the times I've made friends watch it. As for Hero, do you mean the one with Dustin Hoffman and Andy Garcia? If so, that movie is criminally underrated. I haven't thought about it in years, but it was one I had on VHS (taped off the tv) and watched a bunch of times as a kid. Really liked that one.

Also, just as a note for formatting in these threads, I think it's a great idea for people to do something to note titles. Whether it italics, bold, or underline, when reading a block of text, it's easy to skim and pick out titles when they're printed slightly differently. It's not so important when there's a list of titles... you know what I mean.

They're not. In fact, Lebowski only barely turned a profit in the theater. DVD sales have been good though.

The Coen brothers are anything but gold mines for Hollywood studios, and they often avoid working with them on purpose, because they're in the business for the love story telling.

They're like John Sayles that way. As long as they make enough off of their last picture to make their next picture, they're happy. They don't need a private jet and a Ferrari.
