I asked "what is my next question?"

I haven't been to Moscow so I can't say from a first hand bassis. However St.petersburg is much prettier from what I can tell. I also think the city is much more tourist oriented than moscow . They are both great citties to visit but allot depends on what kind of stuff you are interested in. Peter is wall to wall Grand old imperial buildings, meuseums, opera houses, theaters and so on. Moscow is much more Soviet looking lots of old soviet monuments around the Kremlin, the crazy metro, lots of restaurants and bars, hoping nightlife its a huge city allot to see.

TLDR : Moscow; Soviet stuff, very busy big city, sort-of like the New York of Russia St.Petes; Grand old style city, Cannals, Meuseums aplenty, big city, American equivalent; Boston?

You city folks. Maybe we should get some horses and check out North East Siberia. Except my back wouldn't like that.

We could probably rent 4 wheelers.

Don't kid around. I'd definatly rent a pair of decent 4x4 trucks with winches and drive anywhere in the world almost.

In your opinion, how late would it have taken the Russians to enter WWII if Hitler had honored his Non Aggression Pact? And on which side?

Stalin would have waited at least until reforms being undertaken in the military were completed, and he would have waited until he thought Hitler was weak as a result of fighting the west. Maybe soon after Hitler launched an invasion of England Stalin would invade. I'd give it a year or two. This is all "what if" history though which is just pure guess work due to the endless variables.

Soviet Union+ Warsaw pact vs USA+ Nato I think the commies would have won a conventional war. Their equipment was inferior however at the time they had a large numerical superiority and economies already geared up for war. The communist navies were their biggest weakness, but I think they had an edge in the air due to numbers( and only suffering from a then lesser technological deficit) and their Army i think had a clear advantage due to their numbers, equipment was similar, training might have been an Issue.

IF you want to include Nuclear and chemical weapons as well. In that case everybody loses. However the probably had more then enough nerve gas and biological warfare weapons to make sure even the cockroaches were dead.

I would never bet against the U.S. of A in a true World War situation. We're undefeated and always will be.

L. M. A. O.

PWN is 1000% correct.

Forget the hysterical jingoism of Tomas Clancy, America's obsession with blue-jean pants and MTV would have done nothing to help western Europe. NATO wouldn't have known what hit it.

The air net over the Fulda Gap would have been swept aside by the DDR Luftstreitkräfte and the Soviet 16th Air Army like hot knife through butter. Meanwhile, western Europe would be frantically trying to mobilize their pathetic reserves, but find every railway switching station, armory and burst tower sabotaged by pre-positioned infiltration cells of the DDR Combat Groups of the Working Class and Czechoslovak Worker's Militia.

While NATO was still utterly blinded and fumbling around, Volksmarine fast attack craft would put every UK Royal Navy frigate in the Baltic on the bottom of the sea in about 10 minutes flat, allowing Polish hydrofoils to begin beaching Polish People's Army Naval Infantry brigades in Denmark, making mincemeat of Danish coast artillery.

Concurrently, armored divisions from Soviet Group Forces North would roll through Finland slowing long enough only to smile and wave at the useless protestations of neutrality by the Finn Frontier Guard. And then ... oh hallo, Norway! ... all your oil belong to us! :D

Canada & US reinforcements would never have been able to put to sea by the time it was over. Seven days and the Friendship Pact would be accepting NATO's surrender in Brussels. Seven days for a world of peace, equality, socialism and economic egalitarianism.

The entire reason the US had to illegally arm the "west" German and Dutchland client states with nuclear weapons in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is because they knew this to be fact.

I'm going to research some of PWN and Saxi's points further because you bring up interesting analysis. But c'mon, the USSR could not even win in Afghanistan. I know there are those of you saying the USA isn't either. But the USA has done better and unlike the USSR, the USA has to win PR wars when they fight (ever since NAM). If we were fully committed, there would be no such thing as a Taliban anymore.

With all due respect, OTAN would have been brushed aside like yesterday's laundry.

German People's Army and Soviet Red Army S-300 batteries along the border would have blanketed "west" German airspace with volley after volley, utterly decimating Luftwaffe, RAF and USAF air forces without a single Friendship Pact aircraft leaving the tarmac. What aircraft survived this blackening of the sky would have found nowhere to land and been forced to retreat to France as their airfields would lay in smoldering ruins from FROG rockets (plus, likely sabotage success' by KdA infiltration cells).

At this point Mig-29 squadrons of the 16th Air Army and the Luftstreitkräfte would have mopped-up any remnants to achieve total air superiority over the Gap before Friendship Pact motor rifle divisions began the liberation of occupied Germany.

In the south, Turkey would have attempted to draw away the Friends through a distraction attack but would have run head-first into the Marko Line. After they'd exhausted themselves against it their positions would be overrun by Bulgarian and Hungarian forces. Meanwhile, Greek workers would have risen-up in socialist revolution to topple their government and withdraw their country from NATO.

The only way NATO anticipated being able to overcome the Friends' air superiority was through air-detonated nuclear weapons. This is why war crimes weapons liked Canada's Genie missile and America's counterpart to that - whatever it's called, I don't recall - were developed.

lol. nice delusion saxi. Next you'll be spouting about how the DPRK armed forces can defeat all enemies. You sure sucked up the communist propaganda and actually believed it. The ONLY reason soviet expansionism didn't head west was they knew what the results would have been.

Well anyway Baron.

Does Russia have anything comparable to the US Stealth fighter and bomber systems?

(If they do we can't see them so please answer truthfully.)

Yes Nuclear war is a good deterrent.

I didn't think they did, so I decided to look it up. What I found was that they are currently developing one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_PAK_FA. However the article itself doesn't mention any stealth capability but the article on stealth aircraft mentions it. As far as I know they don't have anything equivalent, if they do its supper secret and no one knows about it ;) .
