Damn, the best? He's mediocre at best. Clinton part two. How about FDR? Teddy Roosevelt? William Taft?

FDR perpetuated the depression, and Taft was daft, but what do you have against Teddy?

I love Teddy. Also, lol at the FDR thing. I guess that the depression was just going to fix itself, eh? Oh, no, wait, we got out of it because WWII...uh...happened...yeah. What was I thinking?

I only read the first few pages of this, but i just want to say I think it's HILARIOUS how all these Fox news, Glenn Beck drone idiots who do nothing but repeat the crap they hear have been hammering this repeatedly over and over and now they are shown for the morons that they are. I'm not really referring to anyone here, but people that I know. Close-minded racist, or just die-hard conservatives who will repeat any talking point given to them, even though they have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about. And make no mistake, they will just move on and find some other stupid thing to take up and run with, because the bottom line is, they just hate Obama and will do anything and say anything to try to convince people that every little thing he does is wrong. Hey, here's a towel.....wipe that egg off your face. Donald Trump looks like an idiot after doing all those interviews calling out Obama and accusing him.

Even the UCLA has agreed since 2004. http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/FD ... -5409.aspx
but, ya, I'm the misguided nut job.
The economy is a natural force in society. A recession is like a forest fire. It burns out all the weak and allows the new to grow. Sometimes it happens, it isn't pleasant, but we get through it, and are often better off for it. The economy WILL heal itself. The new deal's "public works" policies are one of the driving forces that prolonged the depression. A project would start, economy in the area would recover, people would attempt to expand, but then the projects would end, and the people who were unemployed before are unemployed again. So, on the local level, all the New Deal did was pick up the economy temporarily and drop flat on it's back again.

So....a military draft? What a fairy tale.

Imagine when a gov't allow a free market to be free and does nothing....like under Calvin Coolidge. Oh, you never heard of the recession in the early 20's? Thats because it was over in 6 months. The gov't did not interfere. The free market remained free.

There is zero evidence that gov't interference ever actually repaired an economy long-term, as any repairs are always short lived with far worse long-term costs. There is a ton of evidence that allowing a free market to remain free has always repaired an economy. Just facts dude

If a white Democrat man had been elected president and there was a question as to his place of birth the conservatives who brought up the issue with Obama would have brought it up with him.

Are there racist people on the birther issue? Yes, of course. Are there racist people who hate the president? Yes, of course. Is the birther issue about race? No. It's stupid and it's irrelevant but it is not racist for someone to question someone's place of birth. I'm sorry, it's not. You can keep saying it's racist, but it's not. Are the conservatives paying attention to this issue all idiots? Yes they are. Are they xenophobic? Probably yes. Are they racist? No.

What you are arguing is akin to you saying, "TGD, men can't be stay-at-home parents" and me firing back with, "You're a religious bigot." It doesn't make sense.
Not arguing ANY of those points.
My intial comment was in regards to Phattscotty's idiotic "copy" , followed by his persistant backtracking and reference to how "liberals are making this about race.. yada yada".

You launched in with similar "the race bit is liberal fiction".

Anyway, the bottom line is there will aways be folks who take positions for all sorts of reasons, including racism. We have been reaching a point where race was no different from any other issue, about as much sense in most people's minds are judging someone based on the color of tennis shoes they wear.

I believe the "birthers" are pretty universally idiots, some of them absolutely racist. A lot of the politicians and pundits raising this issue are not, but are something perhaps worse --- opportunists who could care less what the impact of their words has outside of their own personnal gain.

Never, Ever. I think this shows they are in reality the ones only repeating the crap they hear. This is truly the desired end result of the high-stakes political race card anti-fox/beck BC game.

The case I have been making throughout this entire thread is now rested.

This is the correct answer Player, thank you finally. This is exactly the situation. The only word I have a problem with is "pretty" before the universally... you don't need that qualifier.

And the desperate attempt to re-write the issue is complete. It was, of course entirely the fault of Hilary Clinton, MSNBC, and Barack Obama, also liberals who wanted an excuse to call conservatives racist. Talk radio conservatives never thought it was an issue, and the real heroes are the conservative politicians who just wanted the issue to go away.

On behalf of the vast liberal conspiracy, I think we owe Donald Trump an apology for concocting this vast liberal conspiracy extending to the highest levels of power to suggest that a large number of conservatives believed in a conspiracy theory that President Obama wasn't telling the truth about his birth.

This was entirely concocted by the Clintons, Obama, MSNBC, and liberals. There was no conspiracy theory. Apart from the liberal one suggesting conservative involvement, which isn't a theory- IT'S TRUE!

I honestly don't, but your narrative a few pages ago also seemed to basically lump the blame onto liberals and leading Democrats, while distancing conservatives from the issue and seeming to praise Trump as the guy who solved the problem. In fact, of the political figures you mentioned, three were Dems- Obama, Bill C, and Hilary- to which you apportion blame. One- Trump, is conservative and comes across as the good guy.

That strikes me as a bit strange. A bit of a re-write with certain names erased, and emphasis added to place the blame on Dem politicians.

closer sure, overboard yes. Donald Trump was mostly asked about the birther issue. so were most conservatives. A network named MCNBC has based thousands of segments set up to interview conservatives and ask them about Birthers for years. Donald Trump is Donald Trump, and he is not going to run for president, although now that he got results, I am watching his ego with a smirk. Doesn't change the reality though. Trump turned up the heat, more and more "mainstreamers" jumped on to put more pressure on Obama, and when the poll came out the day he requested his birth certificate showed that, overall, only 38% of Americans believe Obama was definitely born in the USA....Obama caved.

My overall position on this issue is that it should never have been an issue, and I am disgusted and embarrassed by it and how out of hand it got.

Of course conservatives bit and got involved. As I have pointed out, it is a fact he was born a Muslim, has an African name, and grew up in a foreign country. As I have also previosuly said, Obama and his super smarts should have understood this legitimate concern and done the right thing a long time ago. Don't forget, the fact that John Mccain was born in the Panama-Zone provided a low pressure environment in that his opposition would not be eager to play the birth angle, so it wasn't played. maybe it should have been.

There is more to the presidency than just getting elected to it.

Oh, knock it off. Just because I used the blanket term "conservative" doesn't mean I'm trying to distance conservatives from the issue.

If I could rewrite the birther history, it would go, "Hillary Clinton doesn't hint that Obama was born outside the U.S. The conservatives don't talk about it. Obama doesn't use it for political gain."

OH NOES! HE USED THE NAMES OF TWO DEMOCRATS AND NO CONSERVATIVES IN HIS LAST STATEMENT!!! HE'S A BIRTHER! ALSO A RACIST!

You posted a link to the names of the high profile conservative birthers... Romney, Trump, Palin et. al. If you want names of conservatives, there they are.

In any event, I blame some liberals and some conservatives. I blame liberals for introducing the issue and later profiting politically off the issue. I blame conservatives for hanging out to the issue and making it bigger than it should be and profiting off the issue. How's that? Better?

Good points dog. would only want to add I dont think the issue was as big as it seemed, it just had nonstop media cameras focusing on it.

Expect the media to drop the birther issue about as fast as they dropped the coverage of the war in Iraq after the 08 election.

minor exception for MSNBC. I would bet a large sum of money Chris Matthews will struggle with dropping the issue, and even more money that when Chris Matthews finally does publicly say the Birtherism is over, he says it with sadness and a video montage (recalling the precious Birther memories).

Lawrence Odonnel, MSNBC host, (having Ms. Taitz back again) screaming at the top of his lungs in an angry fit of rage "I WANT YOU TO TALK ABOUT THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!!" over, and over, and over, and over (seriously, at least 40 times in a 5 minute span)....and actually kicks the guest off the show because she does not talk about the birth certificate. Folks, you just can't make this stuff up.

here is Pimpdave's 68th Tea Party thread in 69 days, which highlights the attitude and demand to talk about the Birther issue on MSNBC.

Oh, hey! What do you know!!!! It ends with the host calling her crazy and racist! Wait, wasn't someone arguing this exact point earlier in this thread?

Heads up- Orly Taitz is batshit insane, and still seems to be a birther. Next up on the conservative comedy revue- "I just don't understand why he didn't release his social security number 2 and 1/2 years ago" as a double bill with "I never had a problem with it, but if he'd just released his college records this whole thing would have been cleared up". Voices of reason, one and all.

Wait- so now are you saying they were right or wrong to call her crazy? I'm losing track of who's arguing what when it comes to the great liberal conspiracy to create a conspiracy here. Did he even actually call her a racist? I couldn't see it.

Are we re-writing this bit too? It would fit in nicely with the new conspiracy theory.

Scotty says that news programmes call birthers like Orly Taitz crazy to discredit birthers, then says that news programmes use crazy people like Orly Taitz to discredit birthers. Either way, it's part of the liberal conspiracy.

Oh, and she's accused of being racist at some point nobody who watches the clip can find. What should I do? Bleeding heart liberal that I am, I can of course dismiss the idea that PS is lying, so how can I most gently represent to him that what he thought was said was not what was said. Would it insult him?
